Earlier this year decided to finally get off my arse and get my CHP. Below is my timeline of events as of today. Any thoughts when I should get my email to make payment?

3/19 Took Class
4/4 Submitted Application Online
4/5 Did 2 fingerprint cards at police department
4/6 mailed fingerprint cards to LSP
4/7 Per USPS tracking LSP received finger print cards

???? What's the going timeframe to get approved?

I did everything online and had my prints done at LSP a few months back. Got an approval email 2 days later and had my card within 10 days.

I did the app online but wasn't about to take half or a whole day to go to BR to do electronic prints.

Instructor told us doing it that way was quicker but it was not feasible for me.

Was hoping someone would chime in that had to mail in fingerprint cards.

Thanks.

I submitted everything electronically and mailed my prints on 1/16/16 and just got an email requesting a payment on 4/16/16. Now I wish I would have just driven there to get the prints done in person.

My instructor said anyone who claims this is BSing you.

That being said, I have heard so many people say it that I assume the instructor was wrong. I think it is print cards vs electronic prints that speeds things up.

I submit my paperwork several weeks ago. No word yet for me.

Virtually all of my students (those that I hear from), who get their fingerprints scanned at LSP HQ and who submit complete applications, get their permit within 10 business days.

Leaving out required stuff (like court records) or submitting illegible prints are two of the biggest reasons that applications get delayed.

Thats what I am afraid of. My instructor said the 10 days thing also if doing electronic fingerprints. He stated fingerprint cards would add about 2 weeks if prints were legible. Hope its not 3 months like the guy above.

Shoulda told them your instructor was dawg23.

They would have given you your permit on the spot, and then paid YOU for the permit..

My recent experience:

I took a class on Oct.31
Filled out application online and uploaded class completion certificate the following Monday.
Went to LSP for fingerprints on Tuesday. GO EARLY!!
Got an email on Wednesday from state saying application was accepted and please remit payment
Got an email on Friday saying my application was approved and CC permit will be in the mail.
Received my permit the following Thursday.

A little less than 2 weeks from class to permit holder.

Submitted application online. Mailed in a paper fingerprint card I had done at Gonzales PD. Got my license a month later.

My open carry permit took less than a few minutes.

Just a little open vs concealed carry pot stirring

How recent was this?

I hope my wait time is similar. It was not feasible to take a day off to go to BR for electronic pics.
