I'm not sure you understand how a pilot program works.

Jbe didn't seem too concerned about the data collection, he just doesn't want him and his buddies to be hampered by those 3 days in June season.

I understand full well how pilot programs work.

I also understand full well what the state can and can not do regarding transferring public property and resources to private individuals, and also how the Constitution limits the ability of the state to treat some people differently than others under the law.

There are infinitely more ways to obtain the purported data without telling most citizens "no, you can't do what those other citizens are doing."

If you think this a good and legal approach, more power to you. I don't, and I'll put my money and time where my mouth is to prevent it from happening.

As bad as it seems it will be much better than it was and a step in the right direction

Todd Masson needs to write for huffington post. He can spin an article and have people up in arms about nothing

I read that earlier and my initial thought was this could be great. Once season opened, the total catch would be closely watched and an accurate season end could be used. I think they are just wanting to try with 150 people to show overall stock since you have to report what's thrown back also. On the negative, I don't see why they wouldn't release the app for everyone to use. If everyone is reporting during the 3 day season, the Feds would have data in there hands showing how little was caught. They would hate that so I see this getting rejected.

Buttttt... this is Louisiana politics and the Gulf council we are talking about. The governor and director of council probably have some behind door conversations happening.

Headedwest, that app already exists. You're supposed to report your catch with a ROLP

Kinda like those unconstitutional turkey tags on some WMAs. And the north farm hunts on sherburne. Or gator tag lottery on public land

What makes you think this will lead to anything different? Anyone with a fricking brain understands what's going on out there.
