Sweet. Maybe we'll be able to get back everything we used to have.

On top of the dog tax, there could be a pet usage fee assessed on hunting properties as well for clubs that allow dog hunting. If a club is caught with dogs on the property without paying the fee, the property owner is fined. That would put responsibility on the land owner for having responsible people on their property.

Nice, so now you want to tell people and tax them for what they do on their lease. WOW

It allows dog hunting to anyone that wants it. Say $1 per acre fee to hunt with dogs. That money would go to state wildlife, helping to increase wardens, and keeping legal and law abiding hunters safer and better protected, while keeping low lifes out of the woods.

Yeah it's a bit of a stretch. But anyhow, making it illegal isn't going to stop people from doing it. Feedig corn is illegal, spotlighting is illegal etc etc but people still do it. I just don't get why people get so pissed off at dogs running deer. I've read the whole thread and i still don't get it. Like I said people around us run deer, I like it. As soon as food plots go in and feeders get filled with corn deer go nocturnal, some quit moving at all or some deer leave and just go to the feeders.

They can do what they want on their lease, provided it's legal.

Its a whole lot easier to deal with the dogs as you see them with just the expense of your ammunition, ammunition is cheaper than the dogs. Eventually they'll get tired of having to replace them.

When it's not on my land, I don't. When I've spent $X.XX on a lease, $X.XX on equipment, $X.XX on feed, X number of man hours on working the land, to prepare for my hunt, and it's ruined by someone's dogs, that is from another property, I get pissed. I don't understand how you can't see that. That would be like me saying, I can't understand why you'd be pissed if I came onto your land and shot your dog, when you've raised it, trained it and spent whatever amount you did to hunt with it.

Well I just read this entire abortion of a thread and all I got is what I said before so I guess I'll just quote myself and count it as an 'in'.

quote:

This is one of those things where the ethical dog hunters had best propose a solution before the dumbasses kneejerk to the legislature for a ban.

I think a smart solution would be somehow, if you intend to hunt with a dog, you must mark it both visually and with an RFID tag, possibly registered with Wildlife and Fisheries. That way you can't say that's not your dog and you can only hunt with a registered dog.

This would do a couple of things. One, you could come up with a system like the guy was talking about earlier where if your dogs get caught on someone elses land, you get a progressive fine if it's turned in to law enforcement. And TWO, the hunter could have a measure of safety for both his dog and show he's trying to comply with the law as an ethical hunter.

No that wouldn't solve it. But if they got fined every time their dog got caught by someone other than them with that getting progressively worse every time, I'm thinking they'd find a place where that's not as likely to happen.

Because if this thread is any indication, the whole thing is going to be banned soon. We all hunt and this many people want it gone, and you know what the liberals want, that's it, it's toast.

Unfortunately, dog hunters are not normally the type to be proactive about this shite. Say what you will, but the view of them mostly being outlaws... that's earned.

Did any person anywhere in this thread say they should be allowed to run dogs on somebody else's land?

So, spotlighting should be legal then?

I will give you my reasons. I own land and I lease land. I spend a lot of money to enjoy hunting the way I want to hunt. I prefer a nice quiet hunt where I can enjoy the sun rise/set, hear the birds singing, wonder how many squirrels I could kill if I had a silenced .22, etc while I wait on a deer to slip through the woods. What I don't want to do is listen to dogs barking and a guy yelling "WHOOOOOOOPP!" all morning. The worst part is hearing the dogs on your property and knowing that your hunt is ruined and your money wasted. You know most dog hunters don't put their dogs out in the middle of their property, they let them out right on the edge and if the dogs run the wrong way, "so what?"
