Jason while not a deer hunter down there I have never seen that nice of a deer come out of Venice. That is something to be VERY proud of!

Home from the camp. The wind was too brutal for me to stay in the tree. Yesterday was a bust other than a raccoon trying to climb in the stand with me. Today I jumped a doe on the way out. They were laid up with this wind.

Didn't want to bloody up my new spot with coon blood. He walked down the tree and out of sight just easy as you please after I took the pic.

Saw a pretty 8 point this morning and a bunch of does. Pulled cam cards this morning and one of my blinds has at least 12 different mature axis bucks coming to it. So me and buddy are sitting here this evening. Gonna try and take a buck and a doe.

They are some nice ones killed here and there DTR (bohemia and south). I don't think many of the bucks get a chance to get old down there. I bet the one I killed was only 3.5 years old. Most of the bucks I see get killed down there are 1.5 or 2.5. They don't get real tall tines down there but they do carry mass once they get older. Another issue the deer down there have now is the explosion of hogs. Without the crazy number of hogs, there would be a lot more deer.

I will probably get it mounted and let the taxidermist age him. It ought to make for a cool mount to have the velvet hanging off.

Thanks everyone.

Got an 8 that is toying with me - I had him at 40 but was unsure of the shot and when it was time to draw back he got behind shrubs.

Wind was brutal today - it was suppose to be a NW wind but it was thrashing around and blowing my scent everywhere.

May need to look into ozonics....
