Wife's step grandpa, who lived on the land but didn't own it, traded out things he needed for permission to hunt the farm. Old mans been dead for twenty years and I'm still running people off. Same story: Well JB gave my grandfather permission forty years ago . Keep putting up no nothing signs, come back next week signs are gone. No one living there now, no fences. Impossible situation.

You're screwed. We had that problem when no one was living at our family farm in TN. It becomes a public WMA/ATV park in short order when no one is there to keep an eye on things. Now that Mrs Cove's cousin lives there, we haven't had near the trouble.

This is part of what's wrong with our country, no respect. I was taught you don't go where you weren't given permission to go. Now a days these idiots think it all belongs to them cause hey I'm a redneck and I gotta get my mud on or hey so what if you spend a shite load of money and time to keep some deer on your property, I want to kill something too.

I have had run ins with people keeping big catfish pretty frequently. In TN you are allowed 1 per person per day over 30 inches. I turn every last one of those jackasses in.

we've caught a few people fishing in our pond, which is probably why we don't catch huge ones like we used to. most just play dumb and say they didn't know they couldn't fish there. I've made them put their fish back in the lake and leave. I usually try and be fairly nice, not looking to get in a gun fight in the middle of nowhere over a few 3-4 lb bass. But I always tell them, and this is true, if I see them out there again I will call the sheriff.

No poachers but living out in the country tresspassers have always been an issue. Our house backed up to a big plot of family owned property that constantly had people riding ATVs on it. One guy, when caught and asked to leave asked "well where am I supposed to ride this thing". O_o

Once had a lady on a horse in my backyard. That's about all I've got.

Ever now and then we will have a truck go down our farm road headed to go fish one of our ponds. Its usually someone that was told they could come fishing 5-10 years ago and just figured the offer still stands.

We also had a guy that had grazing rights to some pasture that I caught with 2 dead gobblers one morning.

I have a friend I hunt with frequently that has a major hwy running through his land. Every year we have several hunts ruined when we hear a shot and have to climb down and try to get to it before they load up and haul arse. Usually just find a casing in a stand or a pile of blood and hair.

Getting back to my earlier post, I've had total strangers come up to me when I'm building stands or removing stands that I've found and want to know who I am. When I tell them that I'm one of the owners they call me a liar and say that JB is the owner. After taking the time to explain the situation to the dumbass little rednecks then I get the well he told my grandfather or other relative they could hunt. I then say it was to that relative for that particular time and not forever. They have no concept if that. I've had a neighbor come thru riding a horse while I was in a tree stand just off the field. Damn near fell off the horse when i spoke - scared living shite out of him.
Got so tired of this crisp I finally gave up and started hunting elsewhere. Sheriff and warden were brought in to help but nothing ever came of it . Many a time I wanted to sit out with the AR and shoot the hell out of their vehicles-fortunately I never did.

LoL, I catch a lot of rednecks trout fishing the bigger pools in the GSMNP with corn/worms all the time and keeping tons of them below 7"s. Only suppose to use artificial lures in the park. I usually don't care because they mainly stick to the rainbow sections, I would get a little irked if they were fricking up the native brookies.

Guess it depends what you consider poacher, but trespassers yeah.

We had a guy steal a lock on and steps in the back of our lease. Dude had cut a trail though woods across the property line so we just followed it to his trailer and got the shite back with the GWs. Turns out they'd stolen another stand from the same area from the guy that leased the land before us, and we got that back for him too.

Really sketchy dude and his trailer is only a little ways from our line. Reading that thread the other day about carrying in the woods - I always carried going back to that spot after that debacle, and it wasn't necessarily because of hogs. It really sucks, because our lease is bow only and we're all really conscious about time spent in the woods, scent, walking where we don't need to, etc., and we got these dudes on that back line just going around doing whatever the hell they want.

Growing up in Bogalusa, you couldn't run em off with anything. Happened all the time. Eventually we just stopped hunting private land and start hunted public because it was all the same basically.

We also have problems sometimes with guys hunting our land in the marsh.

Some would try to be friends. Some wanted to fight. Some went home, waited till I was in the boat then stole everything out of the back of my truck. Some had the nerve to show up the next day "looking for their sunglasses" with their pole in hand. People are absolutely nuts

These people need to learn the art of night fishing and wear a good pair of running shows.

Like we used to do

Locks on the gate had been cut off 3 times last season. Finally caught them and called the sheriff's office. Deputy that responded would rather have a root canal than write them a ticket for trespassing. I suspect my problem is only going to get worse.

If in louisiana, call the local state police troop instead.

I had issues with a cop and judge trespassing and harassing me on our property.

The tickets and arrest may have disappeared, but they seem to have gotten the hint.
