headed to GI to fish Friday and Saturday for my brothers bachelor party. We're bringing our own boats and have never fished the island. I've heard try elmer's island. Any other locations we should try?

this!, its going to be flat calm so should be good no matter what kind of boat. I am headed down Friday if you want some tips. fish beaches with either live shrimp or croaker and usually when u find them any artificial will work. good luck

Specks just about done. Plenty of white trout. I'd hit the close rigs for mangroves.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that plan.

Seriously though the last few weekends at Elmers yielded white trout, small specs and trash fish. Crabs and beer drinking were great times though.

Elmers was no good this past weekend, but the sand was hard. Road coming in to the beach is the worse I've seen it in some time.

It was the first weekend in months I didn't have to pull anyone out. The road on the other hand is a disaster. Tough to believe they shut down Elmers for 2 days back in May to completely regrade the road and it's already that bad. It wasn't that rough pre-grading.

This is the correct answer. I have been pounding them pretty hard here lately. Hell, I haven't even tried to trout fish in a month.

I'll be in West Cove so you might be SOL. The sand is pretty damp/packed right now though.

This summer I was there a ton, not every weekend but damn near. Combination of Ricky's, the state park, and a couple trips where I left Lafayette at 10pm, drank a few beers on the bridge and watched the degenerates catch bull reds and 8" specs before taking a nap in the truck at the yak launch and fishing on Saturday morning.

Headed back from GI right now. Fished yesterday and today with a friend.

We hit the inshore rigs for mangroves and whatever else we could find. I bit rougher than we hoped for.

Didn't do very well yesterday. Today we did better. Caught a mess of mangroves and a big lemonfish. Surprisingly did better at the closest in rigs that we tried.

As soon as I have a free weekend, I plan on getting with you. Things have been super busy lately. I think I have one free weekend from now until the middle of October. Thanks for thinking about me though. Much appreciated!
