I've had labs most of my life, I had a Heinz 57 that was awesome. But dumb the are not, smell only if you keep them caged in a box. Yes they chew, but name one breed that doesn't at some point? If you're going to have a family hands down lab is the breed. I had one that would guard my son when he first started walking. The Dolly Lama kept watch over him the entire time, when he fell she'd get up walk over grab the back of his Osh Kosh's stand him up and return to her spot. By far the coolest shite I've ever seen I a dog do.

Yup, other dogs do the same thing. Sorry, I just don't like labs and yes they are as dumb as shite.

Pugs are like miniature tanks, badass little dogs. I would suggest an American Bulldog, loyal, fun, energetic, hardheaded,, good with kids, and will scare the hell out of anyone coming to your house.

Sounds like you had a bad experience. Every lab I've ever come across has been hyper but very smart.

The only dogs I've ever come across that seemed smarter than a lab was a blue lacy and a couple of lab crosses.

I'm a huge fan of lab mutts.

I have a drop off that is 1/2 lab, 1/2 chow. Big arse fricker that has been an outstanding dog. He is 14 years old now. He still hunts his arse off to this day. Tracks lost deer too!

The one my old man had could pretty much understand English. If you showed her something once she remembered it. Awesome dogs.

out of those, i would get the malinois. dont get a german shepherd. almost every german shepherd ive met, i didnt really like but thats just me. Don't get a fricking lab. they shed, they stink, they're dumb, and they're ubitquitous throughout the south. get something unique.

Sure are. That's why they put a harness on them and trust them to take blind people out the house, across the street, down the road to the grocery store, and back home again.

Dogs smell like shite. Don't care what breed it is.

Generally though, hounds smell the worse. Hound dogs are some stinkin bastards

No, I have never owned a lab, have owned dobies, goldens and sheperds.

I do know some very intelligent labs though, aslo some pretty "thick" ones. Most of the "thick" ones have been bred for hunting and have only one thing on their minds. Singular of purpose, when not hunting, they can get in trouble.

I have 2 college degrees and have lived in the city all my life.

With the birth of our two children, the wife and I have traded in our 200# of dog for 10#.... Mini Dachshunds RULE!!!!

My three dogs include a cocker spaniel, morkie, and chihuahua. Yes, I am married to a wonderful woman who loves dogs. BTW, do not get the wrong impression because I am known as MrPredator on the LA Sportsman web site.
