You wouldn't happen to know someone with a good female that may be looking to breed?

To the right male I have 2. Some would say they are good dogs.........

I am guessing others wouldn't feed them though.

Please for the love of God do not do this. Simply teach the pup what NO-NO means at an early age.

Yeah, you suggested beating the pup no matter how small. I added to please not do that. Some simple training in the begining will eleminate all the hassle in the end. Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of pain.

ETA: And if you would like to meet up to see what a couple of labs can do when trained I will be glad to show you.

No matter what people think, the only language a dog really understands is pain and foo.

very much appreciate it, you can probably answer some questions for me

am i going to most likeley be spending about $1000 for a dog whos hips are solid?

because i would gladly drop and extra 500 now to ensure that i dont have to drop 5000 in 7 years on surgery

You could go old school. Bullets are cheaper than surgery.

I am sorry that you and downshift feel that way. I can appreciate some discipline but that mentality doesn't fit into my program. To each his own though.

I'm not saying you need to stomp your dogs head in or anything. I just like old school dog raising. Has always worked well for me.

i have trained my labs in the past, never needed to physically touch them.... i make my voice deep and loud and they practically crapped themselves... so that works for me

You can find pups with hip guarantee for less but they will still be North of $500. The problem is the cost of getting the sire and dame certified. Most don't go through the trouble unless they are top notch field dogs. For me it is a no brainer but as you can see in this thread I do not agree with everybody when it comes to raising/training a dog. The surgery cost is high but the time I put into training a dog is valuable and I want the best shot I can get at having a healthy, trained, hunting machine. I work my dogs year round. It is a hobby that I truly enjoy so I try to improve my odds by buying a pup from a trusted breeder who offers health guarantees.
