I keep a pistol in my truck and it's getting rare that I don't grab one when getting in the wife's Terrain when we use it.

Yes, I always carry or have it in the vehicle.
Had a situation the night of the George Strait concert last year in NOLA. Took a wrong turn somewhere (I know nothing about NOLA) and ended up at a red light next to a group of turds on the sidewalk "chilling". They walked up to the truck, the woman started screaming so I reached for the .357 but decided to just run the red light because I had no idea what they had on them.

a pistol, but who does not possess a valid concealed weapon permit, may possess an unloaded pistol in his or
her motor vehicle if the pistol is locked in a compartment or container that is in or affixed securely to the
vehicle and out of reach of the driver and any passenger in the vehicle.

A person may lawfully transport a firearm, including a handgun, from one state in which they are legal to
possess to another state without a permit as required under Alabama law, provided the following conditions
are met:
? The firearm is unloaded.
? Neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly
accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle.
? In case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver's compartment, the firearm and
ammunition shall be in a locked container other than the glove box or console.

We're on the road pretty often for my kid's tournaments, and I've been telling my wife that we need a gun in the car. Should I get a revolver simply for ease of use and less chance of a frick up or misfire?

So, if you have a concealed carry permit you are good. I would bet 9/10 OBers have theirs.

Semi autos are not rocket science. With proper instruction you will be rolling on one in no time. Same goes for your wife.

Get what you can shoot best. If it ends up being a revolver, go with that.

I don't carry. Never open carried and don't have a CCP. I do keep a handgun in my console, but take it out when traveling through AL.

I don't have a concealed carry permit either, but I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

There's a .22 mag revolver in my truck almost all the time but I never really consciously carry. I only really ever want one with me for stopping at sketch gas stations.

No permit, don't typically carry concealed, but do on occasion if I feel the need, and do on occasion have a gun in my car, including family trips sometimes.

I always keep a pistol in my truck, but never carry on my person. Never really felt the need.
