Need some advice. I currently have a 2010 1810 NauticStar with a 115hp Yamaha. I'm wanting something bigger. I have a friend, I work with that would sell me his 2014 xpress 24' hyper hull with a 250hp Yamaha SHO for what he owns on it roughly 37,000 (he's getting ready to retire). This boat is turn key power pole and all. I was also looking a the 22' xpress and the 21' NauticStar Sport. I would like stay around the 35,000 range.

I went from a H20B to a 2104 frontier...i would never go back to an alum. bay boat.
The Xpress will ride good for an alum hull but will still beat you in the bays. It all depends on your intentions for the boat. It lacks the storage a glass boat offers along with the fuel capacity for a weekend at the camp. A big deal for me was no ice chest space. Fish box up front but no spot for drinks/food.

The 24 offers more room up front for a second chest but then you got ice chest you are walking over all the time. It seems like its rigged properly and would be a good boat but dont expect to be on last island comfortably with any wind. My xpress was blown around a lot with any wind

For anything over 30k id stick with a glass boat. Stay away from the nautic stars that have an 8' beam. go 8'3" or 8'6"

This fits my needs better...to each his own. ive since added an Xi5,10' blade and JL amp

yes K2 marine. Its the blackjacks little brother. Ive had a blackjack guy tell me he likes the layout of my boat better than his. I love a blackjack though. I like that mine doesnt have the step up to the front deck. The BJ has one and its a fish box but i like my 100qt right there.

We have a HB22 that we fish out of Big Lake pretty regularly. We went across the lake when it was choppy and ended up busting a welding seam on the bottom of the boat. Apparently once you get over 20 ft. the bow becomes less reinforced and is more likely to have problems.

Overall, I feel like the Xpress boats are pretty damn cheap.

i stated that in my post about it. I also got the blackjack leaning seat so i can have the backrest and rocket launchers.

you can get them in the high 30s new but with a 150hp. I do 53 loaded with 2 people and 50 with 4 people. i get great mpg also. 47mph at 5000 rpms w/ great holeshot. i think the 150 would be too slow. maxing out around 45mph

I also have a frontier 2104 and love it. I talked seapickle into one and he seems happy! I also Came from a xpress 20' hyperlift. For 37k you aren't getting best bang for your buck. I paid that for my frontier that had 50 hours on it and rigged out! It was in mint condition as well.

The xpress was a good starter boat but the 24' still has same beam, same storage that sucks and gets wet, and also no room on rear of boat.

Do some research and spend your money elsewhere on a good glass boat. I would never own a xpress again.

Plenty of room and lots of storage. I've fished 4 comfortably out of it.

Also runs 55 mph with full fishing load and 3 people. I've gotten up to 62 mph with half tank and another person. Great boats for the money

Friend of ours hooked the bottom of a large xpress bayboat. He crossing a bay with heavy chop at speed. The Boat hasn't performed well since. They are nice boats but I would not take them out of protected bayous. I am also not a fan of the low transom free board on the xpress hulls they look like they want to sink tied to the dock IMO.

Those fiberglass jobs can handle car wrecks pretty good to huh pickle? i hope u find that sumbitch!

I 2nd a glass boat. Doesnt sound like much of a deal to me. Picked this up 3 weeks ago from a fella in dulac. 2012 22' zxbay w 280hrs for $29k. NADA is $38k. Runs great and is very stable

My xpress sat low with a 10" jackplate with the little 115 I had on there. That 250 will make it squat.

And yes the Frontier will handle a minor traffic accident haha. Truck is going in shop Monday.

Doesn't seem like he's giving you much of a deal. $37K seems high for a 3 year old used boat considering that a brand new Xpress 24' MSRP's for $33,500, granted that comes with a Yamaha 200 and without the power pole.

That price is too high, and I like my Xpress H20.

In that price range, new, the 21' Nautic Sport is hard to beat. But if you're not in a hurry, wait patiently for a better deal on a lightly used one.

What kind of terms are people getting on boat loans; $37K seems like a lot to owe on that boat after 3 years?

Your friends underwater on that boat. You would be doing him a huge favor. Last year I bought a decked out 2013 H22 for ~23k. Came with JP, 8' Talon, 3 Humminbird units, 70 lbs TM, etc...
My FIL has a 1810 and I can’t stand fishing out of that thing now. Going from 18’ to 22’ will be a noticeable difference. Even if you go with an aluminum hull, it will be a step up in ride and fishing comfort.
