I'm in the market for a new boat. Im just beginning to shop as I won't be getting until November December time frame. I just want to see what can get for my price range.

I have looked at the G3 Bay 18 & 18 DLX. Also looked at some of the xpress CCs. I have a camp on Lake Verret but also love to saltwater fish. I know I want a CC and I think due to my price range I'm stuck with aluminum or an older fiberglass boat.

What are some other brands I should take a look at?

My price range is 15k and lower. I want to keep my note lower then 200 a month.

Please leave me some advice, I have grown up in boats as my family has always had one but this will be my first personal boat.

Sorry for the choppy sentences on my phone.

I would suggest looking for a used boat.

Yeah, it will be a new to me boat. I have also been looking at some bigger microskiffs. I want to get into some skinny water to fish.

Skiff owner here. If you have the need to go fast or cross big water, a micro skiff is not for you. I got beat and soaking wet today in a chop that was barely over a foot.

Micro skiffs are purpose built machines. They are wet, tippy, and ride like a park bench in chop. However, they float in 5 inches or less and are light weight. Everything is a trade off....

Thanks for this info, I should probably lean more towards a smaller CC bay boat. I love the skiffs but think I would get more out of a little bigger boat.

What are some good places to check out? I don't mind traveling to get it either.

A bud bought his Skeeter from Bass Pro. It was a new boat trade-in.

Nice boat and he got to talk to the previous owner.

What length are you looking for?

15k should buy you an 17-20' CC from the years o 2008 - older.

Check out Natic Star, tidewater, mako, champion, ranger etc.

I'd suggest looking into a Panga...this board seems to shun them though.

A glass boat will probably be chaper than a aluminum boat...when you get to older boats.

15k is plenty of money to get you on the water

Yeah anything from 16-20ft on length. My ideal boat would be 18ft, I figured aluminum would be cheaper. A buddy of mine picked up an 18ft mako with 30 hours on it for $12500. Looking for that kind of deal haha. I want an open deck on the front, that is why I like the G3 and Xpress bay series.

Check out some repo deals. Many people don't realize how expensive a boat can be to use and keep up, so they let them go back to the bank pretty fast, and you can find some great deals.Check them out well though.

Where would I go to find repo deals?

You could ask at your bank first, and also internet searching.

Checked out the Panga, look like a sweet boat. Anyone know what they run brand new? Looking at the 18' Evo.

IMO, if you're willing to drive, craigslist is the easiest to locate most anything that individuals are selling.

There's a search engine that lets you search bunches of craigslist. You would think that with all these oilfield workers laid off, there's gotta be some deals out there sooner than later.

Tempest search engine

If you want to go super cheap, Panga Marine has a link on its page to another page where they sell just the hulls and you can finish them out yourself, saving thousands and giving you the ability to mess it up to your specifications. Also, IMEMSA, the Mexican division of Yamaha, also sells panga just across the border in Matomoros for like $4000 for a 25 foot hull. Again, you finish it here. Pangausa imports the Mexican hulls to Corpus and doubles the price to keep the bullets out of your steaming corpse.

Ehh, this totally depends on the boat you have. The ones that can do it all are going to easily be out of the price range.

My boat was far from tippy and took the chop pretty well compared to any other 17' boat. I will admit that it was wet as hell though, and it was slow. I may get a "shallow water" bay boat, but other than that, I'll never own another type of boat. Just going to get a little "nicer" of one.

Advice to the OP, don't feel like you have to buy now. Just keep your eyes open until you come across that great deal. I ended up with my boat because I'm pretty sure a guy needed to get out of his loan. I sold it 2 years later (had a kid and moved out of state) for a 5k profit! I was casually shopping for a few months and came across it on LA sportsman.

There is a '06 G3 1756CC with a 50 Yamahammer in Ellick for sale. Just looked at it yesterday, and sign said motor had less than 100 hrs. Been there a while and price is $5300 on the sign (6000 marked out). If I was in the market it would be at my house.

Boat is on the south end of Prescott close to Horseshoe Drive.
