Left the plug in our boat and was riding around and wakeboarding all day and never realized it was left in until we got back to the boat slip. Boston Whaler FTW

A friend and I were messing around in the high bridge canal off the Tchefuncte river with a couple buddies. I was in my boat and he was in his duck boat.. The idiot decided he wanted to try and ramp the side of the canal and it ended being a lot steeper than he was expecting. Back of boat began sliding back into the water so they all jumped off and we ended up tying his boat to mine and began driving down the canal pulling his boat just trying to keep it afloat.. Buddy was in the duck boat trying to bail out water with a fricking water bottle
went about 15 yards and realized one of our friends was still tredding water in the canal but there was no way we could stop. Finally got all the water out and the duck boat floating and go back to our friend halfway up a cypress tree looking scared for his life said he saw a fish

This was at Boopalus last summer. Apparently he was trying to load the boat seen on the left directly into the bed of the truck.

Not a launch story, but still dumb on our part. Senior year of highshool we'd gotten into throwing big parties on the islands at the mouth of the Pascagoula River (that big marsh you see on I10 headed to Mobile.) We had a 24ft party barge and a bayboat all with removable gas tanks, that we used to shuttle 30 or so people two miles from the boat launch to the island. After a bunch of trips, all the gas tanks are running low and we know we need to fill them, but we keep partying and let it get late. Around 1am, one buddy decides he's gonna take the party barge to go get the tanks filled. Bad idea all around.

Thirty minutes later, we get the call that he's broke down, with every single gas tank we had on his boat. There's only one thing we can do, in our minds, and it damn sure ain't to call pops. Me and two guys start pushing the bay boat through he marsh, in the dark, were we shine gators to this day.

About daylight and a mile later, we see him. He's at the mouth of a heavily used navigation channel as it feeds to the bay, 1000 yards on the other side from us. We push the boat all the way across the channel in what felt like 10 ft seas. We get there and he looks like he's just been rescued from a Chinese prison. Hook up the tank to our boat, tow him in, and mcdonalds breakfast never tasted so good.

I thoroughly enjoyed this thread. My dad and I often laugh about boating mishaps. Always funny to watch the newbies launch at the beginning of summer. However, everyone has had their day.

Me and a buddy of mine got to the launch just past the Humble Canal Bridge one morning at about 8 to go chase some reds in the marsh. We pull up to the launch and theres a truck with a trailer backed into the launch with no boat around. We asked the ole man collecting for the launch where the boat was. He said someone came and launched their boat about 6:30 took off down the canal and aint been back since, I guess thye forgot to park their truck.

Friend of mines dad lent out his boat. Guy calls the guy up after he's finished using it and said thanks, and told him he topped off both his gas tanks. Dude says I only have 1 gas tank The guy who borrowed it filled up the hull full of gas

I had a mishap a few years back so my 10 year daughter said :"Dad we can never come back here"

First time launching boat and I left straps on the stern so the boat was literally floating the trailer. I basically had to get in the water and cut the straps off. (I never ever had stern straps before got in a hurry and fricked up)

Me and a buddy trailered from Baton Rouge to catfish lake in golden Meadow. I hadn't had my bay boat in the water for awhile and it had been parked without a cover. Anyway it felt really strange on the trip down and when I got to the ramp I unstrapped everything and backed down. Normally I have to push the boat off the trailer but this cold November morning it flew off the trailer and was halfway across the canal before I got the trailer halfway in the water.
Another guy went to retrieve the boat . Anyway we got in to go fishing and damn boat wouldn't plane off.

We went back to landing and pulled the boat out. Come to find out I had left the plugs in the boat while it sat parked and it had filled up under the deck with rain water and was extremely heavy. We pulled the plugs and watched it drain for a solid 20 minutes. The went fishing

College days, left one morning going duck hunting. Buddy said he'd drive so hooked the boat and took off. Coffee stop just before the ramp, got out and the boat was gone. 2" tongue on a 1-7/8" ball don't work. Found the boat sitting on the side of the road a few miles back like someone put it there. Changed ball, dug the mud out with a screw driver and shot a limit that morning.

Ok here is launch story from last year. This guy was driving my buddies boat on opening day of snapper seasonwith 26 foot boat. (I have no damn clue why because he sucked and didn't understand the drift the difference between fishing in 50 feet and 120 feet could not find he wrecks do a pattern etc but that is different story)

So we are going into the goat hole or whatever it is called on Dauphin Island and he was supposed to let his son jump off to the dock. Almost like on purpose right when his son goes to jump he puts boat in hard reverse. (I swear I thought he did it on purpose) He son jumps right into the water, with his cell phone and the truck keys to never be seen again. The other set was in Slidell. Apparently, he didn't hear his son say to him just get to the pier and I will jump off and get the truck. The rest of us did. That truck was there for a few days.

It seems that I read this story on here but I think its pretty funny. Not at a boat ramp story but on the way to one.
Two buddys are on the way to go fishing when they stop at the gas staition for fuel and beer, the buddy tries to help out by fueling the boat up while the boat owner goes in the store. The buddy proceeds to pump entire purchase of fuel into the rod holder hole instead of the fuel hole!

I've seen this done, too, at the local marina!

Also witnessed a guy run his worn-out cc onto his even more worn-out trailer at the launch. Dude jumped the boat up on the trailer so hard that he broke off the trailer arm that holds the winch. He had to make some creative lashings to hold the boat on when he pulled away! We made sure not to follow behind him when we picked up.

I once put my truck into False River. Well, about 1' of water in the cab. Drunk as all hell, I backed in the trailer and got out to get the boat. Someone yelled and I looked. Truck stopped going backwards due to the trailer axles dropping off the launch pad. Left the truck in neutral.

One of my uncles did that to his truck in a barpit. Only his cb antenna was sticking out the water. He bought back the truck from the insurance company. Changed out all oil and the truck ran. Was riding around with a shite load of plastic on the seat for a couple months.

Once I watched a woman (drunk) completely miss the trailer on a brand new jet ski at Bridgside in GI. Her guy was pissed and I thought he was going to hit her but didn't. the hull was cracked bad as she got scared and throttled down.

5 min later my dad pulls the dock or boat routine. Boat drifts on him and he does a spit and falls in. Lost his brand new glasses. Swims down to bottom and comes up with them.
