Yall got any recommendations for guides that leave from the Big Lake side of the lake (as opposed to Hackberry)? Looking to fish some specks, reds, and whatever else they can put us on in the lake, or on the coast.

We are staying at a camp on the big lake side, and I am unfamiliar with how the guides distinguish the sides of the lake they leave from. I called one just now from a thread on here and they're on the hackberry side. TIA for yalls help.

You said 'Big Lake' so I am assuming you mean the camps near Hebert's landing. The Poe's run Big Lake Guide service; Sam Bordelon runs Contraband Charters, Josh Johnson runs Triple J Charters. Went to high school with some of those guys. There are others that keep boats in stalls right there at the old marina but I can't think of them now. Sure you will get mixed reviews but I think they are all good choices.

try to get with the poes.... preferably with the wife. there are a shite ton of guides out there, but not all are good.
eric rue is another, but he can rub people the wrong way... he seems to catch fish though.

Call Scott Ihli with Southern Tide Charters. He's a good friend of mine and can put you on the trout.

Basically you want East side of the lake guides. Not West side. All the ones LSUriot mentioned are good

Never personally fished with him but a good friend of mine has had great things to say about Waltrips guide service "W". Said he's a fun guy to fish with and flat out catches fish.

Maybe so, but having to be stuck on a boat with "W" for several hours seems like an unpleasant experience.

Jeff Poe is more easy going to fish with, but Mary generally catches more fish, she's just wound up a lot tighter than he is. Haven't fished with their son, but have heard good things. Erik Rue screwed me, promised to make it up and screwed me again. Wouldn't get in a boat with him if he paid me.

yeh.... thats what he tends to do. saying that, a buddy of mine uses him all the time for his clients. that frickers lucky we don't hide dead fish in his boat. i personally think he is a douche.

Best in the business is Anthony Busceme with Black dog guide service. 7132834258 Guaranteed catch!!!! and best service around for fishing or hunting.... I have never heard of nothing but absolute success with anyone that went with him.

They all stay on the phone with each other all day so one will be as good as the next.

100% agree, he is a terrible guide. Yes he catches fish but they all do. As for as being a guide and taking care of customers, I have heard from several legitimate sources he is God awful. Will run right next to people who are "fishing his whole" or "fishing the birds he was going to" all with customers on board. It's all about him on the boat and how many fish he can catch not the customer. He will put himself in the best positions on the boat to catch fish. You pretty much just pay him to fish on his boat, not to take you on an enjoyable trip.

My Dad would be quick to get beside or in front of him and tell him to put his rod down if he was getting paid.
