Curious to know about your buying experience, specifically how much (if any) you were able to negotiate off MSRP.

ETA -

Can we talk about the turbo v6 issues with throwing rods, etc? What level of research did you do to make yourself comfortable with the purchase?

3 weeks ago. Karl Malone in Ruston wouldn't come off MSRP but offered me 28k for my 2020 Silverado with 175k miles. Which was an absurd amount. But in the end the new Toyota place in Bastrop gave me the best deal. They came off mspr a fair amount and had overall better price than Karl Malone or Van Trow. I got a limited for less than the others were selling the SR5 or whatever

How was their selection. Did they have more than a few on the lot?

I drove one as a rental last week. Now I have the fever.

None of the 3 I went to, Karl Malone- Van Trow- Bastrop, had a whole lot of selection. Van Trow had like 2 trucks. The others had 6-7 to choose from..

I’m afraid to even tempt myself by looking at new trucks since I have zero reason to get rid of my 2016 Tundra. I got the fever last year and fought it off after seeing the crazy prices.

Does it have Carplay/Android Auto? May sound trivial, but I could never have another truck without those.

I can't imagine paying $20k more for a truck than I did in '17... I hope mine lasts 30 years.

I know I'm old but I distinctly remember my parents freaking out about the early Tahoe's MSRP being $24k or so and them saying there's no way that was sustainable! You can't stand close to one today for under $60k.

Had a 2023 F150 as a loaner while mine was in for tires / warranty work. Wireless Carplay is very noice.

I bought 2 Tundras from Fred Haas here in H-town. One in 2014 and then in 2017 after the 2014 one flooded in Harvey. Granted I live here but I imagine they probably have the best selection of probably any dealer in the Gulf area. I don't know what the hassle would be to buy a vehicle here and transfer but both of the Tundras I bought were much cheaper than any dealer I compared to local or out of state.

Thanks guys, I'm not getting much traction on lower than MSRP where I am. Sounds like my market area is a little tighter than yall's.... I'll keep shopping.

I have had a nightmare ongoing electrical issue with my 2020 AT4. The mf'er won't start half the time. I'm throwing in the towel and giving up.

I have a '22.

Had a guy at a gas station last night stop me as ask about mine.
I think that was the 4th or 5th time I've been stopped and asked about it.

I bought one at the beginning of the year. It was very trim dependent at the time, the only thing on the lot was undesirable models. I got like 2k off msrp but the truck had a lot of distributor options. In hind sight, I could’ve saved the most by getting a truck that had ONLY factory options, I refused to pay for the dealer add ons but there were quite a few distributor options like the TSS package. I like those options but I think they are overpriced for what they are.

I was scared of the v6 but it has a ton of power and I still get 19-20 combined driving. It’s a nice truck for sure. I recently had a 3 liter duramax rental and it got like 26 mpgs while I had it. It wasn’t short on torque, nice truck also.

my buddy had a '19 AT4 that had the same issues. he decided to make the switch to the new tundra about a month ago. he brought it to the dealer and prayed to god the issues wouldnt surface and they didnt. they paid him nicely for it and two days later he got a text from On-Star for a critical engine and transmission error and to immediately bring to a shop....

extremely lucky.

Bought 2 vehicles from them. Best price after contacting numerous dealers. Have a 2020 Tundra they were $2k less than anyone else.

I bought my ‘23 TSS from Greg LeBlanc in January after my 13 y/o silverado bit the dust. Got it for 3k below MSRP. It was still expensive, but I wasn’t about to pay those assholes at Lakeside or Northshore 3-5k MVA on top of MSRP. It’s been a solid truck for me so far and pulls my boat just fine. No problems with it so far. I just don’t care for the grille and am thinking about putting one of the TRD Pro/heritage grilles on it. I actually hit 18,000 miles today heading back to the northshore. My average combined city/hwy mpg is 20-22, so I’ll take that all day with a full size pickup.

I could only dream of that MPG. I get 14.5 in my 5.7.
