Anyone here ever had a wolf dog?

I had a customer who had them. Everyone called him the wolf man. Those dogs didn't look like they had ANY dog in them, they looked 100% wolf but I couldn't tell the difference between the behavior of them and any other big dog. Of course I didn't live with them to know their true character so they might be completely different living with them.

I've been around a few, they were fairly anti social. Once in a while you'd get a good one.

Friend had one forever. Thing was huge. Roamed like crazy. Would regularly stay gone for several weeks at a time, then would show back up after he had traveled hundreds of miles. When he was around he would ride in the truck, go in to bars, and lay on the floor. Real gentle and friendly. One day he roamed and never reappeared. RIP in peace Shy Boy...

Good friend of mine has one. Super playful if it likes you. One time it played with a goat to death. Like it just kept running into it over and over again and chasing it until it died of exhaustion

I've had a half livestock Guardian dog half gray wolf.

In a lot of ways they're just like dogs, but with mine there was always a hint of just wolf.

The weirdest thing he would do was he showed affection by putting his nose maybe an eighth of an inch away from yours and just sniffing you really really quickly so your would feel the air moving. But he wouldn't lick you.

He was 160 lb or so and could move on a tile floor completely silently. So you would be sitting in a recliner watching TV and then all of a sudden look to your right and his face would be 3in from yours.

Once he hit five or six he was no longer willing to tolerate any dogs over about 30 or 40 lb.

Pit bull vs a real wolf. Who you got?



Seems that a single wolf would evade a pit in natural scenario. But if cornered one on one, I don’t know.

Do you have to feed it regular meat or just dog food? Could you actually roll around and play with him?

He ate whatever he wanted. Typically would eat some dog food, would randomly kill and eat wild rabbits and rats, and ate a ton of table food.

After about 10 months or so he stopped playing with all toys. He just didn't really have any interest in it. He would occasionally drag a bean bag through the house but I think that was more to be a dick.

I have actually. Size doesn't trump over two centuries of breeding dogs for a singular purpose. Part of their breeding is for thick tight skin and large hard biting mouths that don't let go once they have a mouthful.

I'm talking about putting a blood-lusted Khabib Nurmagomedov up against any random linebacker sized dude on the planet.

Pitbulls are historically bred for hard mouth and gameness for 1v1 bloodsport. In other words, wolves fight to live and pitbulls live to fight. However,

Of the wolf hasn’t eaten, it’d be interesting and we dont really see their reflexes too much. What if they have this crazy assed survival thing that kicks in and they go 'shell'.
