Definitely going to try to down a few birds. We see hundreds of doves walking to the deer stand and ZERO doves with shotgun in hand.

maybe this year we'll have a little better luck.

DANG it's gonna be hot.

I have had a few people tell me that its not too late to bush hog and burn some land in time for the three day holiday, anyone think this is a waste of time? Its my only chance at hunting birds this weekend.

I'm looking forward to laughing at bad shots in my group as well as getting laughed at by my buddies.

I would think you should be fine. I used to fish a little pond a few years ago and the landowner was bushhogging his spot the day of (when it opened at noon) and did pretty damn good.

One of my favorite things about dove hunting is watching the lone bird fly into the field, get shot at by everybody in the field three times each, and then end up flying back out of the field in the same spot he flew into, unscathed.

Seen it way too many times, but it's still hilarious to me.

My last time hunting with pawpaw, we had a flock of pigeons fly over and nearly everyone held off as they flew by. Nearly everyone. Pawpaw let all three shells go and didn't cut a feather, then cussed about missing them and cussed us out for laughing. I'm laughing as I'm typing it

I never have been the one to take care of the field that I hunt, but I think they just go cut the week before to give time for them to find it. I figure there's a chance they'd find it in 3 days, so it's worth a shot.

Gonna try in Fredericksburg tomorrow evening and Friday morning, but its really a blind and feeder trip. This area is not known for its dove hunting.
