Seems like folks on a lot of gun forums are predicting ammo & gun "panic buying" like we saw after Sandy Hook.

I'm sure most folks here have stocked up on .22 ammo (and everything else). But does anyone put any credence in the rumors ?

Well there were shortages in 08 after Obama got elected and following Sandy Hook. It's definitely possible but I doubt it would get to sandy hook levels.

Depends on the caliber. 22 and 5.56/223 sure but 7mm rem mag, 270, 243 etc will still be around.

Reloading components are getting hard to find for certain calibers. I cant find brass for 270wsm and federal primers have been unicorns. Powder is available for now though.

I can say if a catalyst happens to put a little stress on the AR market some shortages on the supply side would be exposed and we would see prices that are already creeping up move up a little faster. We all know a lot of AR parts come from a few OEMs before being branded by a lot of dealers/manufacturers. FCG components, forgings for AR15/308 (upper and lower), BCG components, and some barrel manufacturers are all running very long production queues right now.

I've been stockpiling plenty of depleted uranium sabots just in case.

Well since Hillz is a virtual lock, given the crop of idiots likely to be nominated by the opposition, I look for the NRA/gun lobby to create a panic to generate contributions/memberships. The side effect is an ammo hoarding blitz, so you should stock up now, then offer to sell at inflated rates on the OB after the election.

Bamz has sold more guns and ammo than any president in history, by doing nothing more than existing, and occasionally talking shite.

Not saying it would or wouldn't, but the scenarios that are getting tossed around range from:
(a) Hildebeast gets elected, starts a series of executive orders and (of course) names a super-liberal to the Supreme Court .....to

(b) The Dems win the White House and also re-take control of the House & Senate.

Some of this is purely a political discussion that probably gets debated all over the PT board. But the impact on gun owners if (a) or (b) happens is what's generating the "panic buying" discussions/forecasts on some of the gun forums.

I doubt we ever see the likes of the Sandy Hook panic buying for at least another 8-12 years. The dems did a full court press on gun control and failed miserably. It will take a couple presidential terms before they can try again and think there will be any success

This has nothing to do with this discussion but have y'all ever looked at the gun regulations vs the murder rates of Brazil?

They are much more restrictive than the US yet their murder rates are pretty much the highest in the world.

Funny huh...

I seem to recall an "open letter" or blog of some sort, a few months ago, that quoted a Hornady "big-wig" advising retailers to stay in touch with their distributors, and maintain good/strong relationships with them because 2016 might be a "surge" year.

I'm probably remembering this wrong. I'm sure the "retail" members here are much better informed and can can give a better account of what the Hornady guy was saying.

Do I believe that crazy people will react to Hillary being elected by hoarding ammo, thereby creating a situation where normal thinking, stable humans can't get ammo to go shooting.

Yes 100%

Haven't seen aVa around here lately. I'd love to rustle his jimmies and say I'm ready to retire by selling ammo high in 2016
