Except Arsenals arent twice the price. Preppers gun shop had a 107 for 960 recently...the yugo in the link was 630. Is the arsenal 330 better than the yugo? Without a doubt it is.

The only real negatives about the Yugos are:
- They are heavier than most other stamped AKs
- The buttstock and handguards are not interchangeable with other types of AKs. (However, since the Yugos have been gaining popularity, many manufacturers make a version of their accessories that fit Yugo pattern guns. For example, SlideFire makes a yugo version)
- Yugo barrels are not chrome lined. Yugo AKs (including their military rifles) have never had chrome lining. This is supposedly due to the fact that Yugoslavia didn't have access to chromium in their country back during the Soviet Union days. (For most people this is not going to matter)
Negatives about Arsenal rifles:
- Price
- The paint/ finish that Arsenal puts on their rifles is absolute shite. When I was getting my Arsenal Krink engraved to SBR, the engraver pulled a huge flake off the finish just from putting a little bit of masking tape on the receiver.
- Most of the Arsenal SLR models that I see for sale right now have the factory sidefolding stock. I personally don't consider that a negative because that is my favorite buttstock style. However it does limit the options if you want a different style buttstock; and you can't use a wood buttstock on a sidefolder.

They do make slide fires for yugos, and I have also seen chrome lined barrels made for them. Swapping barrels is not nearly as simple as something like an AR, as you need a press to remove and reinstall all the components.

Thanks for all the info. I'll keep looking at vids and reading but I think for the price I'm still leaning yugo for this first one.

It's a good rifle for the money. Yes, the Arsenal can be had for a few hundred dollars more but that money could go a long ways towards buying mags and ammo for the Yugo. My first AK was a Yugo M-72 RPK; I wish I hadn't sold it because they are worth a lot more these days and I need an RPK back in my collection.

you won't ever notice you don't have a chromed barrel and you shouldn't choose a rifle based on whether slide fire makes a 350 dollar piece of plastic that fits on the butt. An alternative to the yugo, that does have a chromed barrel and comes with the best AK stock trigger ever made, is a Norinco MAK90 (type 56), if you can find one

Oh yea not worried if a slide fire fits or not. If it does I'll get one if not I have one for my ARs. I was just referring to other than stock things in general.
I'll look at that other one if I can find it...that will be the thing.

Speaking of triggers, the ALG AK trigger is legit if you're looking for an upgrade in whatever you end up with.

Especially for only $50! I have it on my Yugo krink right now but will eventually have one on most of my AKs.

No one needs a weapon of war designed to kill people. You should be ashamed of yourself for wanting something like this.
JK
I agree with Clyde spend the extra and get the Yugo mfg one.

It was in stock and they said they normally ship via FedEx Express in 3-5 business days, but their website says due to the volume of orders they are getting it is taking longer to process and ship out. I'm thinking probably two weeks, but I am in no hurry.

I've ordered from Atlantic many times
It's usually at the FFL within the week

I have 5-6 ak's and my favorite is the amd-65.
Also, not a fan of milled. It adds alot of unnecessary weight. I have a yugo underolder that is milled. Nice gun but the milled receiver sucks.

Yugo vs WASR.. What's the differences?
Posted on 6/19/16 at 8:27 pm to Uncle JackD
Yugo uses different furniture and has CHF non chrome lined barrel. WASR uses standard AK furniture and has CHF chrome lined barrel.

03GeeTee- I've read a lot about the bad cheek slap from Yugo's, with some saying if is resolved by technique (move your nose closer to the dust cover) and others say replacing the stock.
What are your thoughts?

I have a yugo under folder similar to this one and my only compliant is the Magpul mags won't work. I paid $675 for it.
