Like I said earlier, you have absolutely no idea how many industries and families oil prices affect. Not even an inkling of an idea. You just proved my point.

FWIW, if you aren't disrespectful and a douche, you might get a little bit better reception here. The OB is pretty lax, but those types of statements are uncalled for and make you look foolish

Thank you for the link.

Do people normally like them with, or without, the thumb safety. I assume they all have some kind of safety.

I'm all for the jump on the next "tragedy" to feel sorry for train. This is a capitalistic economy, basic supply and demand. America is not the only exporter of oil. We have to compete. WhIle some people are hit hard by the oil field, others are enjoying cheap gas. Again, I don't work in the oilfield and drive a truck so filling up for 30 bucks compared to 60-70 is nice. Would you feel devastated if my career went crashing, probably not. So Why should I? I'm no newbie to this board. I've gotten plenty of good information in this thread. I've also learned a good bit. Im a lot more knowledgeable on hunting rifles and shotguns, new to the handgun world. For those in this thread that have brought facts and useful information. Thanks.

S&W Shield 9mm from Gunbuyer.

I've bought multiple firearms from gunbuyer and they usually arrive at my FFL in Baton Rouge in less than a week.

Or go see Carson and support a local small business.

dang good price
i went to the range friday with a friend, we shot his new shield and my new G43
seems to me they were virtually identical in size, and both shot about the same. i did notice the glock trigger was longer, but smoother

the shield is better looking for what thats worth, and obviously, cheaper

I do just for transferring it from places and holstering it. Never have it on when carrying. They have a trigger safety IIRC, but that really means they have no safety at all.

Shield is the most natural pointing gun I have ever shot. Many people agree on that. I personally like the smaller mag, even though I have big hands. Dunno why though

If I was down there, I would come get one from you. The closest place I've found is Ron's Guns in Shreveport

A shop here in Ruston will order one for $435. Both Academy and McKinney Honda want $460 and said it could take three months to get.

Buying a gun here is like buying airline tickets. The smaller the town, the more you pay. Supply and demand in action.

I may order one of the Internet ones if I can have them send it to somewhere in Ruston or Monroe.

Thanks to all of you for your input.

More of a safety than I want. Why even have that though?

I'm glad I didn't get a striker fired weapon, but I'm itching to have a trigger job done on it none the less. Probably change the sights when I do so it'll be north of $600...way down the list of shite I can pop off for at the moment.

Well, put me in the .40 cal. I think a hopped up druggie will over come a 9mm every time. Same reason why the Marines went to a .45 after Panama druggies, rapping vines around themselves, .38 cal didn't stop them.

All about knock down power.

and the vehicles that executed the stop had 2 shotguns. I think 1 was unavailable because of the crash (all the FBI vehicles crashed into the suspect vehicle to stop it) - and one of the agents lost his handgun in the crash, too.

So, only 1 shotgun was brought to bear - if just the second shotgun had been available or at least 1 MP5 and 1 M16 in the other part of the team had been available - things would have turned out differently.
1. And the one person (Mireles) who used the shotgun (and who stopped the fight) was wounded and had to operate & fire the shotgun one handed.

The FBI units who were equipped with rifles showed up just after Mireles fired the final shots into Platt & Matix.

2. On a separate note (not directed toward Mr. Midnight -- his comments have been "spot on") I am thrilled to have access to a forum with so many people who seem to know so much more than the FBI about the effectiveness of handguns in stopping attackers. No offense, but I confess to being amazed at some of the opinions that have been proffered in these 8 pages ...... looking forward to reading more of them.
