Great work with the safety vest
Look into Life Lines too. We have them on every lock on stand. That way you're hooked up from when you leave the ground until you're back down

We use the same and they are a game changer. As muddy as it is where I hunt, I don't like climbing a tree without one now.

We have a lifeline, but our stands don't stay in the same place very often. We have used it whenever we do find a location that we hunt more than once. Use the lineman's belt on the way up and then attach the other strap above the stand before we unhook the linemans belt.

I need to start using my linemans belt on the way up. I always connect the harness when I get to the top of the sticks before stepping on to the lock on, but never climbing.

[/img] I didn't go. Trying to wrap up a couple home projects before the first cold front. I did Robin Hood one of my brand new maxima reds from 30 yds though.
Edit-seeing if I can figure out the pics posting process. Maybe i'm not as computer illiterate as I thought

Put in some real practice time yesterday need to tighten up my grouping at 35 yards. Going to try and work my way out to 50 yards this week. Will be in East Texas Oct 6th weekend

If that's your 35 yd group, I think you're good to go, but i'd want to know why a couple of your arrows look like they are coming in nock right. Could just be the pic.

Was just the target shifting after I would shoot. It was the morning and there was still some moisture on the ground so the target would slide a little.

My buddy took these pics with a potato, but the our plots jumped up after the rain last week.

Shot very well yesterday. Going to continue shooting at least once a day for the foreseeable future

This will be my first season bowhunting, and my first season hunting after a 5 or 6 year layoff. I'm pumped to get back out there.
Hopefully I can figure this bowhunting thing out, I like the idea of a challenge.

Baw. You are brave slinging those $20 arrows at each other 4 at a time.

As long as you stay consistent with your form modern bows are very forgiving and user friendly.
Now there are a million other variable that can affect your hunt but that's the challenge that we all know and love. Some you can control some you can't and there is always something to learn before during or after your hunt.
Good luck on your first year to bow hunt.

I have no real concerns about my shooting, I've always been a fairly good shot. I've gotten a fair amount of practice.

This is what I'm looking forward too.

Don't just get up in the tree and sit down. Make sure you're comfortable reaching for your bow, getting stood up, drawing back at all angles.

Has anyone ever had an instance where they destroyed 2 broadheads shooting? I just bought a pack of Dead Ringer Hyper Strike broadheads Sunday. I was shooting yesterday, and ironically had 2 bad shots that hit pretty much right on top of each other. I pretty much pulled the bow both times. I guess it's good when even your vad shots are grouping well!! Lol!
Anyway, I go to pull the arrows, and the first broadhead has all 3 blades and the tip blown off (must be in the target still), and the 2nd one is badly dented.
I'm just wondering if that's normal for broadheads to take that much damage when hitting each other, or if these broadheads are just garbage.
I also learned a valuable lesson: don't try to group with broadheads!!

I generally don't shoot my hunting broadheads into targets.

Not all, but a lot of broadheads (especially mechanical) will need blades replaced after shooting a deer. Blades are somewhat sacrificial.

I'm down to only 3 good arrows that I trust going out into with woods with and shooting at an animal. I went to the bow shop to order 6 more, I love these and have had phenomenal accuracy and penetration.
Well Carbon Express no longer makes the Mayhem Hunter 350's that I bought in 2014. They now have the Mayhem Hunter DS 350. These arrows went from 9.8 GPI to 10.03 GPI. It's not a huge increase but it will change my sights slightly.
Anyway, I get the new arrows this week and the old once won't be used for anything else
