I'm in day 4 of my flu diagnosis
Apparently the nurse told me that the people working for the vaccine incorrectly predicted the outcome of the flu virus going around.
PLEASE BE SAFE

They picked the right strain for the vaccine, but it mutated enough that the shot is not keeping people from getting it. Those that did get the shot are having a much milder case though.

I had/have it--started Saturday. First time since freshman year at LSU. Thought I was gone die. Finally felt human again today.
This years strand came with the bonus of badass stomach issues. Have fun!

This is true. Me, the wife and my son all got vaccinated and all got the flu a few weeks ago.
It was pretty gnarly for a couple of days, but we were all better with 3-4 days.
Been hearing stories of people having it for nearly two weeks. Couldn't imagine that. The flu is brutal.

Yeah,I had it last week and it was horrific. I really did think that I might die and a couple of times I thought that would be alright.
Last time I had the flu was (swine flu) in '09. This was wayyyyy worse.

Two people around here have died from complications of the flu this year.

This year's version doesn't seem to be as bad as some years, but I have never seen this many folks catch it....I have become a legit germophobe when I am at work....

All of which is why we should avoid those shots and build up our own immunities. We're about due for a good scourge soon anyway.

I am not sure if what I have is the flu or not. I had some serious congestion that moved down into my lungs. Did Plyometrics from P90X last night and afterwards coughed up a nest of creatures from my lungs. After that able to breathe much better and don't really ache at all. Still congested a little but feeling like a different man. Oh, and I took that fricking shot. Hospital I work at (I'm an RN) said it is either the vaccination or wear a mask all day. Basically forcing it on us. Bastids.

you don't know what they put in that shot...I also work at a hospital and a couple of years ago a Doc got vaccinated and developed Guillan-
Baree and it was bad arse...took her 6 mths to get to feeling better...still not over all effects

Too late bro, but thanks for the advice. Here I would have to wear it from Oct 1-Mar 31. Not gonna happen. BTW, did you get the shot or wear the mask? Kudos if you don the mask, I will just have to take my chances.
Cheers

mask all the way...put a smile on the outside so patients can't see the smirks

Got it in November lost 10lbs in 4 days. At least I'm immune now.

I got it a little over a week ago and still feel like dammit. I can't get it to go away with a round of antibitoics, tamiflu and steroids. Having bronchitis on top of it as well doesn't help

At least you have a choice. The hospital I do registry work for isn't giving their employees a choice. You don't get a flushot...you are just simply fired.
