Disagree. It's waning, and quickly. Two years ago that video would not have been made. Why? Because the professor would not have even sent the email. He and the school would have bent over from the start. There are fewer departments on campus that put up with such nonsense as well. Those holding out will soon face backlash and pressure as alumni don't appreciate seeing their university in the news when some wingnut gets quoted.

There are growing instances of people standing up and not just preemptively rolling over. Threads like this are increasing in number, more commenting, etc.

The SJW's started just wanting acknowledgement. Sounded OK, but once people caved in and acknowledged things, the next question was 'so what are you going to do about it?' and it escalated. Now, they're looking to obliterate everyone's choices and rights for the sake of their own hedonistic pursuits, but finding fewer and fewer safe havens. The American people don't believe in most if not all of what the SJW's drone on about.

Also, these idiot kids better start coming to grips with a few things. One of them being that universities are at least partially, business enterprises. If a well funded professor leaves, guess what - he or she takes the grant money along. Grants are tied to the investigator that was awarded the grant, not the institution. Let a 20yr old SJW turd try to call out a professor that's brought in millions and currently has a large grant with NIH or NSF. The university can back up the professor or the professor can call a university of her choice and leave the next morning. None of these twits on the SJW side are ever going to be capable enough to replace that grant money.

Perhaps if they spent time developing their minds rather than their yelling and snapping skills, they may be worth something to the world.

Employers have started viewing all of the Ivy League with suspicion because of stuff like this, and grade inflation, etc. It won't be long before prominent graduates like the first Pres Bush to stand up and tell these idiots to uncork their heads from their butts and grow a spine.

Many of them will spend their lives working in the US Federal Govt where they will tirelessly work to impose their twisted worldview on the USA backed by the compulsory powers of the US FedGov.

I work in higher ed and I'm often reminded of ROE in Afghanistan. Better to get shot than deal with the backlash from the establishment.

Exactly. These are the people that will be running the Federal Government at the highest level. We all better pray Trump wins the next election.

The faculty at Missouri is using this exact SJW tactic to get rid of an administrator they don't politically agree with.

It's not going away. It's too useful of a political tool.

I like how students can now tell Professors to shut up, be quiet, and yell obscenities at them and the university will issue an apology to them.

This professor is some highly decorated academic with tons of accolades and yet he is here reduced to being yelled at and bullied by his students for merely suggesting that people should be able to wear whatever Halloween costumes they want.

She'll probably stay in a bubble as long as possible. People like that can't handle reality.

She'll get a job with an unsuspecting company because of her Yale degree. Then she'll demand that the company change their procedures to suit her vision of fairness. She'll be in HR each week, filing complaints against superiors and coworkers and threatening to sue. Once she has everyone subdued and miserable, she'll move on to some other company and repeat the process.

Is it really surprising that in an age of screaming maniacs dominating the right that you'd have a parallel movement on the left?

It's just a reflection of the social media monologues, individualism/narcissism, and inability to have a logical argument pervasive in social life today.

I watched the video first, not knowing anything about the story. Judging the reaction, I would've thought the professor dressed like little black sambo running from a tiger for Halloween. Then I read the email. I guess I need to check my privilege cause I still don't understand wtf is so offensive

She is offended because he doesn't give a shite if white people dress as black or Asians for Halloween. He says he wouldn't do it but who cares if someone else does it. He is right who gives a flying frick.

I'm sorry but I don't feel bad for the school. They created this whole "SJW" monster. Now it has turned on them. Let's see them try to put it back in the bottle.

Excellent article. Thanks for posting. It's long, but this was one of the more important paragraphs:

quote:

The expansive use of trigger warnings may also foster unhealthy mental habits in the vastly larger group of students who do not suffer from PTSD or other anxiety disorders. People acquire their fears not just from their own past experiences, but from social learning as well. If everyone around you acts as though something is dangerous—elevators, certain neighborhoods, novels depicting racism—then you are at risk of acquiring that fear too. The psychiatrist Sarah Roff pointed this out last year in an online article for The Chronicle of Higher Education. “One of my biggest concerns about trigger warnings,” Roff wrote, “is that they will apply not just to those who have experienced trauma, but to all students, creating an atmosphere in which they are encouraged to believe that there is something dangerous or damaging about discussing difficult aspects of our history.”

I find it ironic the complain about things that offend them and they want a safe little world, but they have no problem screaming and bullying someone that offends them.
