Out of curiosity, what exactly can you not do with a prosthetic foot?
I would still be able to do the things I enjoy like hiking, lifting, hunting, gardening, etc. I would not be able to do them at nearly the level Im accustomed to now and that would not make me happy. There are alot of "I's" and "me's" in that statement which makes it selfish, but I dont care. It's MY foot. If I would really sit down and think about it, I suppose logically it makes sense. It would be a tough decision. I dont have kids yet, but I suppose if you'd ask me the same question in 3 years I would give you some completely different and less selfish. Would I cut off my foot for the betterment of my children's lives? Well, right now I dont have children so no, but that will change in the future and so will my answer more than likely.

For 10 million? Tax free? You can have the leg

I love being active, so having two feet is pretty important to my quality of life. I understand that prosthetic limbs are getting pretty good, but I'd rather have my natural limbs.
I don't understand those of you that wouldn't

If ten million is not enough to retire on, some posters are going to be disappointed when they see what they're left with on their personal retirement plans.

FFS this isn't the 1800s. Having a foot surgically removed by professionals and getting a state of the art prosthetic isn't going to make you hobble around like some fricking geriatric. When clothed a stranger would literally not be able to tell what's happened unless you told th
If you want a state of the art prosthetic, that will cost a ton, and you will have to spend a lot of time at the doctor in physical therapy and getting used to it. And your insurance will assuredly not pay for it when they find out you cut your foot off to win money.

Heck yeah; spend a million on the most awesome robotic foot available and have 9 million left

For example, according to a white paper[2] from the Bioengineering Institute Center for Neuroprosthetics, at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, a basic below-the-knee prosthetic that would allow a patient to walk on flat ground costs $5,000-$7,000, while one that would allow the patient to walk on stairs and bumpy ground could cost $10,000. For a device that would allow a patient to walk and run as well as a non-amputee, the cost could go up to $15,000. Prosthetics with special hydraulic or mechanical systems that allow for movement control can cost more than $15,000. And a computer-assisted prosthetic leg costs $20,000

Not possible, but also, what about lateral agility? What about spotaneous situations?

Hell yeh. Fake foot here I come

For $10 million, oh yeah. We could quit working and travel full-time, maybe buy a bar. And it's a foot. No one would know if you're missing a foot if you're wearing pants, socks and shoes.
Shoot, I would probably let the Angola chapter of the Aryan Nation run a train on my arse for $10 million. That's life changing money for most folks, as long as you aren't a total moron and go crazy buying stupid crap.

Yes. The money I would save on pedicures would be worth it.

this makes you either
1) a selfish a-hole with zero foresight
or
2) a fricking retard
which one is it?

Ya I understand they are able to make you run fast but I would want to shadow some dude around my age with a fake foot for a few days to see how it affected his daily life before pulling the trigger.

I'd probably do this before the foot. I'm married. Little f**ker isn't getting used anyway.
I just can't see losing the foot. What's a toe get me?
