From GQ

quote:

The Cheat Sheet
• Your dress shoes should be as contoured as your suits. Say no to square toes.

Black lace-ups are the most dependable and versatile shoes you can own.

• Real dress shoes have leather soles...

• ...but there are now plenty of quality rubber-soled options available.

• Take care of your shoes: taps on the heels and toes, cedar shoe trees when you're not wearing them.

• Yes, you can—and should—wear sneakers with a suit. But keep them simple and understated.

Square toes should be outlawed.

They're heinous looking be it boot or shoe. That's my opinion.

Square toe footwearers assemble and tell me what gravitational force drew you to them?

Yeah, I don't like them, but they look ridiculous on me. I'm 5'11" but wear a size 12 shoe. I literally look like a clown wearing square toe. Again, it probably looks better on people who have really small feet.

I only buy leather, but I do wear dress shoes with wooden soles. I like those too.

I definitely care about what our employees wear to work everyday--especially managers. They represent the company and showing up to the job site looking like a slob usually doesnt leave a good impression on our customers. IDGAF what brands they wear or how well they color coordinate just as long as they look presentable and carry themselves professionally.

So you're good at non sequiturs and trite, childish criticisms. Congratulations. Your parents must be proud. I'll ask again. What was your point?

Yes. The OP asserted that black shoes do not look good with khakis (and I happen to agree with that assertion). You posted something from GQ (lol) stating that black dress shoes are versatile (a statement with which I also happen to agree).

You seem to think these two assertions are mutually exclusive. You'd be wrong.

Honestly, I wouldn't hold much of a candle to a GQ recommendation.

Black shoes are versatile. Just not with khakis.

Four days out of 5 at my work most employees are in the office working with customers via phone, email, WebEx, etc. On those days jeans, polo, and casual closed toe shoes of any type (crocs, loafers, tennis shoes, etc) are acceptable. I don't won't to see holy jeans, t-shirts, etc.

When meeting with clients at a refinery/plant, dress like plant personnel dresses. Jeans, a polo, and nice shoes (no crocs, tennis shoes, etc).

When going to a professional conference, sales dinner/lunch, or meeting at a formal office slacks, button down, and nice dress shoes are needed.

In other words, use your head. If I have to get on to someone for inappropriate dress for the occasion, they move to the top of my "first to go list."

So if it happens to be the most versatile shoe, then basically it's all boiling down to personal taste.(I honestly don't think I looks all that terrible) Seriously don't get what the fuss is about.

Though come to think about it.. I can't remember the last time I wore black and khaki

Now I will have to take notice of which shoes hubs wears with black shirt and khakis. Normally it is brown shoes with khakis and colored shirts and black shoes with black pants but idk which one he does with the black khaki combo.

Doesn't matter because he is old and other guys at his job wear white tennis shoes with khakis. At least he doesn't do that!

I didn't know male prostitutes could be promoted. Is it just a title like "Master Dick Sucker" or does it come with extra pay as well?

I'm 6'1" and wear a 13. But I also have flat feet, with little arch support. Only wide shoes fit comfortably. I just feel like squared toe shoes fit and look better wide. I haven't found a round toe shoe that I like the way it looks on me.

I don't wear them with khakis either, but honestly, even though I don't think it's a good look, it's not really one of my pet peeves.
