re: NBC/WSJ poll: Americans care far more about getting ahead than income inequality - cahoots
37% of democrats would rather the poor getting poorer if it meant the rich became less rich at a faster pace. That is despicable.
First, your sentence construction needs some work. Second, that's not what the poll said. Polls use carefully chosen wording to elicit certain respon...

re: Who saw this sign in the Marigny complaining about AirBnb? - cahoots
This reminds me of the Uber debate.
It's different because you aren't sharing your car as with Uber. The owner does not have to be at the home with air bnb. Think if people started a rental car facility out of their garage......

re: Who saw this sign in the Marigny complaining about AirBnb? - cahoots
Residential houses aren't suppose to be short term rentals.
Kinda agree. Hotels and bed&breakfasts have to play by certain rules. You shouldn't be able to turn your home into a permanent hotel unless we want to do away with all taxes and zoning related to hospitality. ...

re: Why is "taking less profit" never on the table? - cahoots
I will tread carefully here. Let's look at the $15 min wage debate. The con's say that it will result in businesses laying off workers, and/or raising prices for consumers, because "there's no way the business will accept less profit." That is stated as a given. Why?
Because dou...

re: Let's discuss the glaring gender identity disorder hypocrisy. - cahoots
which goal are some of these people working toward? Do they even know?
Most rational people view this issue the same way as lots of other disorders. It's a problem when a person experiences abnormal levels of discontent for any reason. In this case, it's with his or her gender to...

No. Guns are against my religion because they promote violence. The bible says turn the other cheek. You can't force your secular views on me. I love my freedom. ...

re: What subsidized industries/companies are surprising? - cahoots
That doesn't make any sense with respect to retail of commodities. It's a zero sum game for the most part. You're just shifting where people buy the goods. Small businesses lose out, as we have seen. You don't collect more sales taxes unless people buy more stuff, which doesn't magically happen when...

re: What subsidized industries/companies are surprising? - cahoots
If a state or locality has to do that to draw any businesses maybe they should re-evaluate their basic tax structure.
In many cases, this doesn't apply. St. Tammany wasn't hurting for restaurants before subsidizing Texas Roadhouse. Why should a municipality ever subsidize retail? ...

What subsidized industries/companies are surprising? - cahoots
I was surprised to learn how much each city tends to subsidize technology companies like IBM. Of course, I can also understand the perceived benefits. Another one - Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's. They tend to get huge subsidies everywhere they build. It almost seems as though most larger compan...
