Make sure you look pretty when she gets home.

I mean, is she constantly rubbing it in your face?

Cause if that's the case....not cool.

I make more than my husband and I make an effort to not throw that in his face when we argue.

Would you have preferred that her news would have been that she was laid off?

Be happy, at least she's climbing the corporate bedpost. That shows initiative.

Truth. Some topics (like this one) are "can't win". Makes for some entertainment though.

So you make an effort, but admittedly sometimes throw it in his face?

We are currently in the process of moving for a new position I took with my company. My wife will have to find a new job in time. I hope to God she makes more than me when it's all said and done. We'd have F-You money. And that's the best kind of money.

I wish I had a wife that could carry me. As long as she's fair with your allowance and lets you make a couple of small financial decisions from time to time as a gesture then you'll be ok.

PE, just did grad school in engineering, but it's a start.

Wife graduated from LSU in French Lit.

I'm not sure how a french Lit can make more than an engineer. I would be upset too FWIW

I wish I made half of what my wife makes. It would make this budget for the this new house we are building so mush easier.

No, she's been catching me for years and it's always been something we've joked with each other about. She gets the highest percentage raises possible and they add up over a decade. We've had one, shared, bank account since we started dating at LSU so this absolutely has no bearing on anything...it just makes me feel like I've underperformed a bit. That's not her fault. Oh well.

I'd be more worried about this at 40.

Well when you argue with someone(ESP a spouse..cause you know exactly what buttons to push and piss them off) and it gets heated....sometimes you say things in the heat of the moment you regret later. I have thrown that in his face and very much regretted it later. Not a good move on my part at all and I will own up to that.

Oh she'll hit that by 40, I didn't though. I would have had I not quit my last job, but I'm more looking to have employable skills at 50 than crossing some line in the sand.

If I were you, I wouldn't be bothered that she makes more than me. I would be bothered that she probably sucked and/or fricked someone to get the raise.

Damn, I can't imagine why there would be an inclination to do this in any argument, even if the argument is about money.
