Through Elementary, Middle, High School and College, you have designated "breaks" in your yearly timeline. Semesters, Summers, etc.
You have a better grasp on how time is moving based on completing of Fall Semester or Spring Semester. You get a 3 month Summer break, rinse and repeat. It seems once you graduate, life is only broken down by time since last New Years and time until Christmas. You get no breaks in the routine, so it's much easier for time to seem to just melt together.
Just my $0.02.

I thought it sped up at 25 then 30 but at 40 it flies. Ages have become irrelevant. I don't even think 60 yr olds look old anymore

To test this theory, we need the input of a teacher, since they get the summers off. Any teachers here feel life moves just as slowly as it did when you were a child?

I believe that time seems to speed up as you age due to the fact that you perceive it relative to the time that you have lived. For example, when you are 10 years old you perceive a year to be much longer because it represents a period of time that is equivalent to 1/10th of the life as you have known it.
In keeping with that notion it seems to speed up every year. Exceptions being when you have serious issues to deal with like incarceration and or long term illnesses and such.

I've read somewhere that part of it may have to do with "new experiences". When you're young, almost everything you do is new. As you age, you get more and more into a routine causing your perception of time to speed up. Unfortunately, with the way our society is set up, there's no real good way for the majority to break up the routine significantly and still contribute.

I swear I remember being in 2nd grade class. Staring out the class room window and thinking recess time will never be here. And entering into high school literally seemed impossible because it was so far ahead.
I wish there was a way to slow life down to this speed again.

Responsibility nickel and dimes your life away. The largest part of your waking life is spent at a job that you may or may not hate -- but it consumes your time.
When you are a kid, you live moment to moment because you are only responsible for entertaining yourself.
Responsibility gets first crack at your time. A few minutes here washing dishes, a few hours here on lawn care, a few minutes bathing your kids, a few minutes pumping gas, going to the bank, checking emails, surfing the net, folding clothes, cooking dinner, grabbing lunch, attending a t-ball game...
and it goes on and on and the minutes are filled leaving very little for relaxation and reflection.
Doing stuff burns time and as mentioned above, your perception of time changes as you age. You see your day as broken into a work schedule and menial tasks, not as a blank slate for you to fill as you wish.

ya, that's the theory I had read.
Every day is important because something new is happening every day, so your brain is cataloging and remembering those days, and that gives you the idea that "SO MUCH" happened and time had moved slowly.
Now, you have less days that bring something new, you've seen cars, planes, a paper plate, glassware, that colorful tree, etc. There is no need for your brain to remember it or give the experience importance, therefore, time goes by "faster."

It's pretty sad. My daugther turns 2 next month, literally feels like she was born last week.
I wouldn't trade my experiences, but I would love to go back and live it again.
I'm 31, but best case, 1/3 of my life is already gone. My parents are both 61, crazy that in the short time I have been on this earth, they probably won't be here.

I honestly think the internet and technology in general plays a role. Yes, we were all younger before everything was as available as it is now, but back then when you were bored...you were truly BORED. Now, you can surf the web, watch a show, stream music, etc in just a second making time fly by faster. JMO.
