I lived right off 30a in Santa Rosa Beach for about a year. There are affordable places, but sometimes it's hard to find a house without an elevator in it. Only problem was the abundance of Bama fans.

Disney cruises are the shiz
Just got back from a 7 night eastern caribbean Disney Cruise and I agree, they are very well done.
For the most part it comes down to price. The more expensive something is, the less trash it will have. Disney World is a perfect example. Same destination, BUT different clientele if you stay at All-Star Movies vs Contemporary or Beach Club.
Disney not having a casino and having higher fares prices out alot of trash. Plus, the amount of kids on the boat (even thought it doesn't feel they have as many as they do) also keeps alot of people at bay however we met plenty of couple and people who went who didn't go with any kids at all.
In all of my travels anywhere in the world, it was by far the best encounters I had with other vacationers.

They should ban cruise ships.

If Wal-Mart was a hotel, and that hotel was in the ocean, is how I imagine a cruise must be like. But I've never been so I can't say for sure.

Anything that the majority of people can participate in is trashy. Cruises used to be luxuries. Now that they've lowered prices and every Billy Bob can afford it, it is trashy.

All inclusive is a stationary cruise ship
I think people here have a misunderstanding of "all-inclusive." Sandals is trashy and other resorts of that type, but at many upscale resorts you aren't going to pay for anything while you're there. Although, you won't really see those resorts market themselves as "all-inclusive."
I'm planning my honeymoon (about a year from now) and am looking at the places listed below. They certainly don't call it "all-inclusive" but that's what they are.
Explora Patagonia
W Maldives
Some of these resorts may have an adjacent restaurant where you can expect to pay (and pay a lot). But if you walk up to a bar or order something to your room, you aren't going to pay for it. It was like that at a place I stayed in Lugano. For the most part, when you're paying $1k-$2k/night you aren't going to walk up to one of their bars and open a tab. They'll give you whatever you want. If you want a tour of the city or you want one of the staff to take you shopping, they'll do that too. That's not stuff you pay for. They'll assign a person to you while you're there and you just ask for what you need.

Coincidentally, I just finished reading a book about the last voyage of the Lusitania. Couple of U Boats lurking around out there would make things hella more interesting.

So attending a sporting event at LSU is now considered trashy?

I still can't afford a cruise. Have never been. I deliver a family their pizza the night before they depart the AP for a cruise.
So, yea. I'm trashy!

I enjoy a nice cruise. We have cruised 43 times (wife and I). Now, some lines like Carnival or some European cruise lines are not ones I would enjoy. We are cruising in November aboard Oceania's Marina from Cape Town to Rio with 5 days pre-cruise doing a safari and Victoria Falls tour and finishing in Rio with a 3 day stay. Just find cruises to be relaxing and good to get away from the phone, computer, people like you frickers who want pain meds for a splinter in their finger.

You're gonna spend all that money on a chick who won't be the last chick you frick nor will you be the last dick in her vagina?

Besides the two day I'm doing in November, our next cruise is going to be on the Disney Dream. Would like to do three days at Disney World, then seven day cruise, then fly home.
Looking at February 2017 now. I typically cruise carnival. I find if you get a balcony on the lido deck or above you are removed from the crowds and can get around the ships easier. Sure Carnival cruises are full of trashy cheap people, but they have options that are far from trashy and cheap. You could spend half the cruise on the Spa deck and never see what we would call a "trashy" person.
I do agree on the clientele change at Disney from the Floridian to the Polynesian then to the 'budget" resorts.

We did a 7 day Disney one and it wasn't trashy.

This is the best advice I have seen for a Carnival cruise and will admit to the pattern we have done in the past when cruising on Carnival. Hanging on a balcony or up on Spa Deck does take you away from the crowds. Hell, even on Oceania cruises, we spend majority of time on the balcony....laughing

Embarking on the Cozumel this afternoon. 16 of us. All in suites. Hang out on a balcony and watch the world go by for a couple days and the ladies don't have to cook or clean.
I'm trashy. Come at me.
