I've pretty much only dealt with the treatments used in the O&G industry but it's pretty interesting regardless of the use. I can't help but imagine a cruise ship using a few hundred feet of pvc pipe or something to get to the "good water"

Never been on either. We go to Vero Beach annually for vacation. Nothing special, just like 99% of the posters here.

Ive noticed Vero is a big place for residents of KY, especially Lexington. My former college roommate and a bunch of his family friends from KY all have places down there

Cruises are my favorite vacations. Don't care if anyone thinks it's trashy.

I've been on five. Alaska was by far the best destination

Went on one to Alaska out of Vancouver when I was younger, it was far from trashy.

deal". The people that think like this are usually not the ones that don't kind paying top dollar to go to 30a for a week.

30a is really nice and definitely less trashy than a cruise. But it is far from top dollar.

Trashy as hell to put vodka in a shampoo bottle instead of having the money to buy on the boat. You were on the right trashy cruise for your trashy life.

I was in Santa Rosa for a wedding a few weeks ago and was amazed at how much that area has grown. I grew up going to seaside during the summer but had not been in that area in 5-6 years. We went to eat at pickles in seaside one afternoon and the amount of traffic/people blew me away. If I had kids, I would be hesitant giving them the freedoms that were given to me as a kid when we vacationed there.

My favorite thing about this thread is knowing you spent a good bit of your time on the cruise questioning the trashiness of everything you did

Cruises in general aren't trashy, but when you save up and look at a cruise trip as the beats all vacation, then your trashy.

Ironically, Seaside and Seagrove are the two communities on 30A that are considered lower tier compared to some others. Watercolor, Watersound, North Seacrest, Alys Beach and Rosemary are where the more affluent families tend to stay or own these days. But Seaside and Seagrove are still a good step above anything else in a 50 mile stretch. Seaside is just to damn congested. Still nice but to many freaking bikes and people in such a small area. We stayed in Watercolor a few times but have settled in the last two years in Rosemary. Just like the village set up there better.

A lot of families prefer sea grove just based on the rentals being o. the actual beach, which is much quieter and easier depending on the family. We would always go to seaside with 3-5 other baton rouge families and our parents never had to worry about keeping us entertained. Staying a mile down the beach from seaside/water colors wouldn't have allowed such an option.
You are right though, seaside was nothing like it is now when we used to go there. Our family always went during Mardi Gras break so as my siblings and I became older, the trips started to die down. I think one of our final years in Seaside was when they began breaking ground for water colors

What I always find amusing is when cruisers say "so and so place was awesome" like "Man, Grand Cayman was awesome!" Really? You spent half a day in Georgetown walking from souvenir shop to souvenir shop or maybe took one excursion with a group of drunk cruisers to Stingray City and proclaim it as awesome. It is hilarious when people who spent one half of a day talk about how great it was when all they saw was the tourist trap port or, at best, went on one 3 hour excursion.

The community of Watercolor is very nice and set up well with varying price points but to me it is the reason Seaside is so crowded now. Both communities front 30A in the stretch of about 1/3 of a mile. Five years ago, I seriously thought about retiring in Watercolor as I loved the layout. Not today. I have my eyes set on Rosemary. I do like Alys Beach but something about every building and home being white bugs me. I prefer a little variety in style and architecture.

Because people who rarely travel for pleasure like to rip on people who do.

I went on a Carnival cruise as well in high school. Managed to bang some rando hawt slush in their shitty cabin bathroom while my mom was in the room at the time.
