How long does it take your AC or heater to get into gear and work properly? If you start the car 15-30 seconds before getting in, that's 15-30 seconds less of being uncomfortable. Could be the difference between starting to sweat or not.
I also use it a ton because it takes a few minutes to load the son up in the car seat. Don't want him in the hot car while we are fiddling around with his seat belt an everything.

Remote start is awesome in the winter up north because people have to let their cars run to defrost before they can go anywhere. That way you don't have to walk out of your house and it can be running while still locked
It's also awesome in the summer down south so you don't have to sit in your car (aka as a 150 degree oven) for 5 minutes while it cools down.

To get the AC going so I don't start popping sweat in a 120 degree car in the south in July.

I get this, but if that's the case you would start it from farther away. Why wait until you're to the point of opening the door to start it?

One guy I work with walks in to the break room when he's done with his shift, pulls down the blinds, and remote starts his truck every day - even if it's great weather like today. Looks around like he's a badass after he does it too - then walks to his truck. Has to come into the break room to do it. Every. Single. Time.

Sounds like he's in your head just like he wants, lol.

Letting the car warm up for 5-10 minutes before driving is supposedly really good for the engine (lets the oil heat up).

showing off but that feature is AWESOME on a blistering hot summer day after 18. I crank it up while unloading the cart and it's cool by the time i open the door.

Both of our vehicles are manuals, I wouldn't trust a remote start. My truck has a clutch delete start feature, but still I'd want to make sure wouldn't be in gear.

I'm the only lazy arse at the gym starting my truck from the cardio room so it's cool by the time I get there

The range of the remote start on the fords is pretty awful.
I put an aftermarket start on my previous f150 and it was 10x better. It also chimed on the remote to let you know the truck had received the signal.

It cannot hurt anything by them doing it. Most people do not wait the proper amount of time before jerking the vehicle into drive and hauling arse.
