Why cant the US be like Canada?

Canada is quiet. You never hear of them getting involved in wars, flexing their muscle, and they don't try to take care of other countries problems.

They have that luxury because they share a border with the U.S. and the U.S. military ensures they don't need to use their own military.
Even other NATO countries were spending way less on their military than they should because they figured they'll let the U.S. handle the world's problems.
The entire western world is dependent on the U.S. military. That's why these other countries can sit back and seem peaceful. It's because the U.S. is the one who does all the dirty work.
