According to a very basic google search, in CT, at least, yes you can.
Probably won't be an issue for you though
So I guess some police departments do practice high IQ discrimination because of the following:

namely that they think people with such high scores will get bored with the job quickly and leave after obtaining expensive training.
BTW, I intentionally did not google the question simply because there is no fun in that.

In a ruling made public on Tuesday, Judge Peter C. Dorsey of the United States District Court in New Haven agreed that the plaintiff, Robert Jordan, was denied an opportunity to interview for a police job because of his high test scores. But he said that that did not mean Mr. Jordan was a victim of discrimination.
Judge Dorsey ruled that Mr. Jordan was not denied equal protection because the city of New London applied the same standard to everyone: anyone who scored too high was rejected.

I keep reading in various cop threads that if you test too high on an admissions IQ test you'll get rejected. The most common reason is that smart people are basically over qualified and would get bored with the job.

State Troopers get paid a lot more than city cops and are more discriminatory on who they allow. The smart ones are LSP and the ones without degrees generally go to city/parish. You're naturally gonna bring down the bell curve that way

We have a ton of very intelligent officers in our department. It all depends on pay. The smart ones usually end up at higher paying departments.
In Misdissippi the police departments are the highest paid and they attract the top talent. Some of the lower paying departments really struggle getting qualified officers and they lower the standards. They have some problem children for sure.

The sheriffs deputies I know didn't have to go to college and are making $50k plus base salary after a few years. Plus all kinds of extra pay for security detail and get to use a company car for personal use. In addition to this they have a very good early retirement plan.
