so why does it matter how we treat or feed them?

I've seen cows pass up grass to eat corn.

I love when chicken labels say "no additional hormones"
it's federally mandated that no hormones can be added, it doesn't make your product exclusive or anything
Agree.
It's pretty funny that they also say 'vegetarian diets'.. of course they're not eating meat.

I've seen cows pass up the salad bar to get a bowl of chocolate from the chocolate fountain.
Ain't mean it's natural or nothing.

Ok. But who cares if the cow is unhealthy at lets say 6 year olds if it is killed at 4 before it ever reaches that point?

That's great. I've seen humans pass up vegetables to eat processed garbage that is fake food.
Doesn't change the fact that the cows digestive track is designed to digest herbs, not grains.

I do. Because an unhealthy animal is not going to provide as quality and nutritious meat as a healthy animal.

WF is nothing like it was originally. I lived 1/2 mile from the very 1st store in Austin. It started out basically as a co-op. You had to purchase a membership card to shop there. Had a pretty eclectic group of members when it started.
I was just there a few days ago. Place is HUGE.
the original store? it's the one north of UT campus. was a medium-sized wooden structure - kind of shabby looking if I remember. Had mostly UT college students and professors shopping there in the early days.
ETA: I think this is a pic of the first one.

frick all you bitches. Whole Foods rocks. Mine has a bar in it with beer and wine. You can get better end mens shaving products. Great selection of meat. The Sugarland location has aged beef.
Do they smell some snake oils? Sure. But they also sell a lot of shite that u can't get elsewhere. Great salad bar and quality stuff. Get what you pay for.

Humans have a tendency to not act on natural tendencies when it comes to eating. The free range cow is doing what is natural to him, which is oddly enough, eat some grains every once in a while.

This has actually turned into an enjoyable conversation.

So what is your solution? Entirely free range livestock that consumes at least 10 times more agricultural land? Meat prices would skyrocket.

Who's to say if it's unhealthy if it is killed before the side effects of the feeding make any impact.

Hey bud.
Let me ask you a question.
I assume most of you are afraid of Round Up. (glyphosate is the real name. made by dum dum dum dum .....MONSANTO) Roundup is a widely used herbicide in commercial agriculture.
Now I know all of you sheep think the EPA is correct in everything they say.
Let's consider the worst case scenario of normal human consumption of glyphosate treated crops. Say, you are ONLY eating these crops and no organic crops. Worst case scenario. Your friend the big ole' EPA has declared even in this scenario, no adverse health effects, over your entire life, with RoundUp levels at the highest possible on food, will occur. OH NO!
And let's go into the chemistry. Almost as soon as glyphosate comes into contact with soil, it becomes inactive. This is even much more safe than active glyphosate.
"roundup" has replaced many herbicides due to the finding of RoundUp ready resistant genes. It has replaced much more toxic chemicals.
So before(oops, too late) you get your panties in a wad, why don't you pull the covers off your eyes and find the facts.
