Same question above: If Navy nukes everything where do they live once the get out of the water?
this wasn't the point of the thread though
you simply asked who would win and why
the Navy is definitely the answer

And a Navy vessel could likely be carrying Marines too
I was going to ask that question. Do Marines count as Navy since they're technically part of the DoN?

If you're talking conventional warfare (no nukes), then I'd have to say Marines. The Marines and Army are the only 2 branches that have capability to capture and hold any significant amount of territory. Air Force and Navy couldn't win an all out war alone because they wouldn't be able to hold territory. So Army and Marines are only 2 logical answers.
Army has 3x as many troops as Marines, but Marines have their own fighter jet squadrons and would be able to use their air power to overcome Army's man power advantage. Win goes to Marines

Air force with or without nukes. The air control wins wars. The Navy can certainly control the seas (what good are they if you can't get on land). The Army has the man power numbers, but the A10 would even that up pretty quick. Marines are too thin to be much threat.

nukes equals game unless cyber command shuts their launch shite down

Navy and it isn't even close
Navy ships need to come to port eventually to refuel and resupply....Army or Marines could easily capture the ports which chokes off the Navy's supply line. And they could launch land based cruise missiles at the ships once they got within range of the coast.

The Navy has more fighter jets than the Air Force.

Who would win if all the branches of the US armed forces fought each other?
I can't believe nobody has said this yet, but the ultimate deciding factor in a war like this would revolve heavily around who has the better big dogs calling the shots
I guess what I'm saying is that you could have the fastest race car in the world but if an old Asian lady is driving it is still going to hit the wall and burst into flames

Interesting subject I suppose. And I'm not surprised in the direction it's gone. However, for those who keep talking about the "winner" of this fictitious American Civil War being the branch who can bring down the most nuclear hellfire, you're forgetting one thing. You're forgetting the fact that if there was any sort of full blown nuclear exchange like is being described in this thread, virtually all of North America would become the proverbial "radioactive glass paved parking lot". Basically, if this war we're discussing here ever happened and it resulted in widespread use of nuclear weapons, there would be no winner left standing when it was over.

Another interesting question would be how long would a war like this last?

Ground troops could storm and take over the air force base. Air control wins wars when its in support of ground troops. Need ground troops to hold and defend territory.

And sadly most are currently really cool looking paper weights....
Grounded: Nearly two-thirds of US Navy’s strike fighters can’t fly

I was just about to post "Nobody wins". In an all out war the nukes would come out... and in that case it's game over for the planet.
There might be a few survivors here and there but there would be no "winner".

You can't be serious, right? How many off those can you knock off due to being logistics use only? Half? More?
I give Navy advantage, without nukes, due to my belief that we have more conventional weapons than the other as well when speaking of submarine, air, and surface launched. Also, the Navy is adapted to any challenge and landscape (see SEALs/Seabee/Riverine/IA forces). Just because we're primarily based at sea doesn't mean we don't know how to fight on land.

Exactly. Even if it were only the US nuke arsenal that was unleashed, that's still enough firepower to virtually sterilize the whole plant numerious times over.
The destructive power in a modern nuke is simply mind boggling. The bombs we dropped on Japan could flatten most (but not all) of a large city. The thermonuclear weapons we have today can devastate a small state... and that's if you just use one. One warhead today is thousands of times more powerful than the first atomic bombs. And we've got thousands of them.

If it came down to a conventional ground war without nukes coming into play, then the winner would be the US Army. Yes the SEALs are badass and the Marines are good at what they do. But there is no force on this planet better at ground warfare than the US Army. And there is a whole helliva lot more soldiers in the US Army than there are SEALs and Marines.

I vote they do count as Navy. Additionally I had a relative who was a Navy officer stationed in Nebraska of all places on a facility that controlled certain nuclear weapons operations so I agree with the nuclear aspect as well giving the Navy the edge.
