According to the financials that are readily available on google 2014-2015 the TAF took in a total of 32 million (all time record) with out this 10 million dollar man.

Would imagine his 10MM is factored in to that amount.

I understand that, but those amounts do not support regular ten million dollar donations.

How do you figure? A 10MM donation could be spread out over 5-10 years. Multiple commitments for multiple projects could be made as well.

For instance, commit 10MM over ten years for facilities, 10MM over 10 years for coaches salaries, 10MM over ten years for maintaining the Tiger.

Ten million spread over a decade is nowhere near any sane persons interpretation of ten million dollar regular gifts.

Also, you're forgetting all of the other thousands of contributions. Alumni associations all over the country that have game watches and raise money for these funds. Money is coming from everywhere, so if these ten million dollar regular men were real, the surplus comes about. Money would be spent. Irregularities would be seen.

If you have made three commitments within 10 years I would call that regular.

That's essentially one person giving three million every year.

Ridiculous.

It could be spread over 20 years or in the form of other services. Tons of possibilities.

As a blanket statement that someone is writing 10MM checks each month, yeah it is absurd. No sane person would think that is happening.

I would imagine TAF took a realistic look at what it will take to buyout Les Miles and called a few boosters that have the stroke to maintain those payments.

LSU doesn't need boosters to buy him out. Iowa could buy his arse out.

It occurred to me in another discussion that there likely will be very little money spent on Les Miles's buy out. It's spread out over 8 years. he will land another job that pays well and LSU won't owe much, if at all.

Well done, sirs.

The G-Vice claimed to personally know someone who made regular $10,000,000 donations, that is horseshite.

What you are insinuating is one donor dropping $30,000,000 in ten years, that did not happen either.

The TAF has plenty of cash no doubt, it has the highest know assets of any AF in the country, what it does not have is anyone making regular $10,000,000 donations.

There is no need for people to be lying POS just to seem important.

i heard his buyout had to be paid even if he landed another job, just like muschamp gets money from uf and au. if true, that changes the calculus here for sure.

no matter what, lsu is crazy to get rid of les. guy is winning an average of 10 games a year in the toughest conference, that's won 7 of 11 national titles since he's been at lsu, sharing the division with saban. that idiot clown jumbo averages one more win per year, in the worst conference in the nation, and has been wholly dependent on fsu's two biggest rivals being down for the majority of his time at fsu. but he's been the name yammered about the most.

lsu will not win an average of 10 games per year over the next decade. won't even come close. because you're going to get a coach that is worse than you already have. guy has the #1 recruiting class coming and you want to fire him? and the hubris of you people thinking that class isn't going to dissolve now.

this is a bad, bad move. the only thing lsu is going to accomplish is that, once saban retires, bert is going to own the west.

maybe these rich boosters need to answer some questions from the regular fans. if they're pushing for this, they may be crippling your program.

When I was donating a bunch to TAF a few years ago, Cox was the biggest donor by a good margin. Some of the other big names were valluzo, Matt McKay, Pennington and a few scummy plaintiff lawyers also have a lot. The top few were corporations though.

Corporations as in Lamar Billboards/Shaw industries (public companies) or as in Lawton family, LLC?

I guess since they would funnel the buyout money through a non-profit like the TAF, all donations would be tax deductible as well.

People fall for that booster shite all the time. The taxpayers will foot this bill and the people that donate will right it off as a donation to the University. The taxpayer always takes it in the arse when rich people play games.

From what I read in the stickied USA Today article, the buyout decreases throughout the year as Les recieves paychecks, so its not actually 3m extra to do it now vs January. It's also reduced by any other job he gets and he has to make a good faith effort to find work.

Basically 15m =/= 15m. LSU could end up paying a fraction of that amount.

How exactly do the taxpayers foot the bill? Are you insinuating that money given should be money the state/federal government should be getting?

If you're willing to part with 7 figures to get rid of a respected coach in December instead of January then you've got an insane amount of money.

If you don't, it severely limits what coaches you have available to choose from. That's just the cost of doing business when you sign an idiotic extension.

The 3 have around 15 kids. I would not be shocked if one went to Ole Miss but what does this have to do with anything?
