one of my mom's best friend's dad is a forensic dentist for the state of new york. they flew him in to help identify bodies. he told me first hand that there more dead bodies then they let on to be and that many were killed in a manner that suggested someone knew what they were doing (meaning well placed shots).

also, there were definitely seals being dropped off.... a buddy was flying (part of the crew) on a chopper that dropped them off.

I was NOFD during Katrina. I didn't see people killed by security forces (blackwater types hired by local supermajors), but they were definitely there.
I operated out of mid city for the first three days. Being on the roof of Delgado at night was surreal.

Hell, I was working at a hospital in Bogalusa at the time. The first targets were the local privately owned pharmacies. Several of them were broken into.

I was in Bogalusa the Sunday after the storm. Very sparse communications both in and out. And yes, it was the Wild West there as well.

It wouldn't surprise me if they did have some type of operators for certain situations. The only story I know of is Terrebonne parish officers going up there to help. They got diverted because NOPD had started exchanging fire with the state troopers. The NOPD officers were guarding a warehouse they were storing their loot at.

You always hear stupid arse stories of navy seals coming into the city and shooting rioters left and right. All bullshite.

I know people who worked in hospitals. The first day or two victims and dead would come in looking like typical victims and dead.

Eventually it wasn't uncommon to see someone with a large caliber rifle bullet through the middle of their head.

why do people claim the government blew up the levees?

Because the ignorant will believe anything.
You might have 50 people total who actually believe that and most of them wouldn't have even thought of it if that dumb fck Bill Jefferson/Spike Lee wouldn't have given a few of the crazies a platform to speak about it.

For all that was going on and how easy things could have went to total hell, I am quite surprised and how little real rioting and trouble there was in the city.
Most of the stuff about what happened at the convention center was BS.
You did have some walmart and small scale looting, but it wasn't like huge gangs took over the city and were burning stuff down. Hell Ferguson was even worse.

Who was threatening hospitals?

For example, charity hospital, was full of patients and doctors and families and etc...

Thug pieces of shite were trying to get in and rob the pharmacy and the people. Military didn't allow that to happen.

Those dangerous criminal elements would have been shot with bullets that were traceable to the gun/shooter (issued by gov't) and dealt with in private hearings and confirmed to be justifiable and not a crime.

As for drugs, first responders were notified of some places that drugs were in vulnerable areas so the responders could go get the drugs if they had the means.

These are things I know happened. There are other things I wish I didn't know and still break my heart for the good people who had to go thru that.

It was pretty bad. If people could have moved around easier it would have been much worse.

Don't believe Gen. Honore when he tells you the stories were not true. Many of them are very true. He wasn't there at the beginning and he wasn't in every part of the city.

Tunechi,

I was at Memorial Baptist from august 27th through September 2nd. Ask Away.

I spent 10 hours at convention center...ask away.

I was escorted out of the city by a former navy seal who verified that there was a small presence in the city.

Exactly. My fiancee was NOFD also and at the superdome and other places and and he knew what the hell was going on because he lived it. I can't even begin to get into it.

That had to be rough. Your kind were heroes.

This is one of the main gripes I have about people saying the feds couldn't have come in any sooner and done more. When people are stuck in hospitals and the sick are dying in those conditions, you send in whatever resources the country has and get everyone out ASAP.
We can get 1'000s of soldiers with gear, water, and food halfway around the globe in a couple of days, we damn sure should have been able to get into a US city within 24 hours to evacuate hospitals.

the evacuations were quite by accident organized by an observant Acadian ambulance employee. He helped organize the evacuation of Baptist by casually dropping down to check on us.

the next 24 hours were a flurry of volunteers such as myself trying to get as many non-ambulatory patients on those birds as possible.

the first being the neonatal babies. that was crazy. there first experience out of the unit was in the back of pick-up, driving to the top of the garage then being carried to a helicopter for a flight.

then it was driving up patients and carrying them up.

first national guard showed up without guns just to be a presence. HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAH

then the hospital armed some of us and had us bar the doors.

the helicopters did stop for a while because of gunfire.

the convention center was filled with thousands who had no clue on how to help themselves. the waited for someone to help them. fostering an entitlement society led to this I believe

we got out by asking for a ride on a box truck that was dropping off. people were actually angry and threatening us because we were leaving.

there were vehicles roaming with armed thugs. most troubling was seeing a kid who had to be under twelve with a shotgun driving around with other armed guys.

Instead, believe the psychotic masses who said babies were being raped at the convention center. ANd believe crazy bird Nagin who said 10,000 were already confirmed dead.

Concentration camps...? The rendezvous point where people were being evacuated...?

I know the conditions sucked considering the situation, but no one was being sent to the gas chambers... They had to get people out some how...

A place I worked at uptown was supposed to be a headquarters of sorts for blackwater. I wasn't working there during Katrina but the people who were would always talk about it.
