What's the truth on Katrina/Blackwater, etc.

There have been so many stories in the news and online. Everyone knows someone who saw 100 body-bags, etc. Is there a definitive assessment of the true role that private security/ contractors/ mercenaries/ paramilitary actually played in the days after Kateina?

Black water was security for the Sheraton on Canal. I know because I had to go through it frequently. Those guys run a tight intense operation.

The guy who paid to bring them in send bills to everyone in the place later on to try to get them to split the cost.

I've heard stories from a reliable source that threats against hospitals were neutralized by the SEALS. The part that could not be verified is if those bodies would ever be found. Also heard first hand from someone who housed military personnel at a downtown office building that there were a group of large individuals dressed in all black who they were not allowed to speak to nor ask who they were.
