Spend every second you can with the people you love, particularly people like your parents and grandparents. One day after they're gone, you'll wish you just had one more chance to talk to them or get advice from them.

Find a career you are passionate about, you'll find a way to get paid for it....if it matters to you, who care if it matters to anyone else.

"It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently."

Warren Buffett

But seriously on the importance of early investment, both for you and your descendants. I started late and had to make up for it. After 57 or so I'm really planning on working for my daughter's future more than my own. Paying off farmland, maxing backdoor Roth IRA, 401k contributions, etc., things that can be passed down. I expect my son to take care of himself, but a girls future is much more dependent on the jackfrick she marries than a guy's.

Every so often ai give my son a version of a story Robert Duvall tells Sean Penn in the movie Colors. I haven't seen it in probably 25-30 years, but it's always stuck with me.

A bull and his young son are making their way up a hill after an afternoon walk. Upon reaching the peak, they look down and see a group of young female cows grazing. The young son looks up at his father and says, "Hey Dad! Why don't we run down the hill and frick one of those cows?" The father looks down at the boy and says, "No son. Let's walk down and frick them all."

Also--Be present. Decisions are made by those who show up.

I wish I could go back to all the times where I got money for birthdays Christmas and saved it all up and be debt free. I already know when my 6 year old gets older he won't listen when I tell him to save his money.

Marriage sucks unless you marry the right one. A wife is a partner, don't forget that part.

Even with the right one there will be days you want to walk out. Don't, or you'll be doing it the rest of your life.

It's hard work at times but if you do it right you'll not only have better sex than these kids who think they know what good is, you'll have someone who will rub your feet when you're 60 and tired from working all day.

Never give two shits about what someone thinks about you, that doesn't know you. Now when a friend or coworker that you have respect for has something to say about your ways or actions, you better take a step back and listen, you cocky Mother-fricker!

Show me your friends and I'll show you your future.

Don't mistake activity for accomplishment. Results count.

Money is a number and numbers never end. If it takes money to be happy your search for happiness will never end.

if there's something you want to do/try, do it. don't wait until you're old and gray and tell yourself "I wish I tried that when I had the chance". going to college, making a career change, traveling the world, it could be anything. even if you fail, you'll never know what you are truly capable of unless you take risks.

break off ties with toxic people, regardless of how long you've known them. I've had to do that over the years, and it especially sucks when it's people I've known for several years and developed a close friendship with, but I'm better for it in the long run.

be the best at whatever it is you're doing. whether you're flipping burgers, mopping floors, whatever it is, be the master at your craft and take pride in your work.

ALWAYS wrap it up.

all of this. I lost my grandmother last July and there's not a day that goes by where I don't regret spending more time with her.

there are two types of people in this world, leaders and followers.

Leaders live life as they see fit and do what they see is right.

Followers live life trying to fit and and conform with the crowd. They have no sense of right or wrong so they'll follow someone else into doing wrong.

The OT (and the world) is overrun with followers.
