I made $115k my first year out of college in 2011, but it was a field engineer job in the oil field, involving working shitty, long hours and living inBFE the majority of the time, so that doesn't really count

they probably don't realize how much inflation has increased since the 90s. especially with the sluggish increases of the last few years.

That would depend on what your degree is in and what decade you graduated in.

Nice. I started in Internal Audit at $28k in 1990.

Dr. Glenn Sumners' program helped me out.

Got into sales and just started hustling.
I took a sales gig in construction where I talked the owner into paying me 60% of whatever I could add on top of any contract price that he approved, on top of my normal commission. I started making an extra $2k-$25k per project. Eventually, the owner got greedy and wanted to reduce it to 40%. It pissed me off and I left, but by that time my experience let me take a better job at a higher pay.

Accounting jobs generally have nice starting salaries; especially if you go Big 4 and are able to travel a bit at beginning of career.

I didn't go Big 4; but started out at $45k in 2010. Making nearly double that (talking salary only) 7 years later.
