I only know of a few that road it out.
I lived in Buras for 29 years and could barely recognize it the day after Katrina.

Long story short: He likes to troll NLA, I was stupid and drunk enough one day to take the bait, and he got my message board version of the Taken Phone Call. I got banned for three years, I'm back, and he keeps trying to get me to snap again. Won't happen though, but I find his efforts to be entertaining.

I do think that I made him kind of angry and made it rather personal when I told him that every single time that I reply to him-no matter what I say-that it will be like I am hocking up a big loogie and spitting it right in his face.

Tingle are you from PP??

And I haven't been to many other parishes but I can honestly tell you, plaquemines is great... From the mouth of the river to the damn BC bridge, most people get along great... I love it here

Who you talking about fut? You don't have to be specific, I'm just curious...

And yea, the politics are definitely a 'who you know' operation

The black population in Plaquemines has actually been declining. I know a few blacks from Venice/Port Sulphur and they're all good people

Holy shite, as I'm reading through this thread, it's astonishing how many people have mentioned plaquemines...

The only recent trend I haven't liked about BC is that there has been some section 8 apartments popping up and while the crime is still very low, you do get a lot of riff raff in the neighborhoods.... Haven't had any problems yet

A lot of us originally from Plaquemines probably know of each other or at least our families. I can't picture Placebeaux, but I probably have seen him around quite a bit as a kid. The Parish is the smallest in the NO metro and the demographics of this board says we probably played baseball against each other or were at least at the same parks all the time.

Katrina changed the parish A LOT. Belle Chasse was already getting expensive, but now it's getting worse. I'm not familiar with section 8 there, but it's probably going to current parish residents so the threat of absolute thuggery is probably low. Crime isn't really a big deal in plaquemines to the point that the PPSO turns what would be little things in other places into big things there. The lower end probably still hasn't gotten back a third of the pre-Katrina population, but a lot of people are in Belle Chasse making the total population similar. Before Katrina, there were 3 highschools on the southern end with ~700 students just in highschool. Now there is 1 highschool with ~250 students.

I've always said that until you've met a creole from 'down the road', you haven't lived...

There is definitely some interesting characters and some good, genuine people down there..
