re: What parish has the most all-around good people?

If farm land is so valuable in NE LA then why do all your farmer friends demand federally funded subsidies to stay afloat.

Yeah, there are actually some good people in those parts, but there are some crazy arse people there as well. I can tell you some stories, I am sure you can as well, but do you know where 404 & hwy 75 meet? The area is mostly empty land, but there use to be a trailer right along there. It had no electricity, you could see installation hanging out from the exterior, it looked like there were 10-12 people who lived in it.

I think they were forced to move, but before they moved I use to slow down to about 15-20 mph when I came near it. Some of the people who lived there would walk on the hwy like it was a sidewalk, they would have kids in a stroller and just in the middle of the road, slowly walking like it was no big deal. I never understood how people were that stupid. Walking in the middle of a hwy, near a curve, with their kids. There were times when there would be 4 or 5 cars waiting to go around them and they didn't care in the least bit.

Don't remember that exact area, but it's been at least 20 years since I've spent much time down that way.

I just remember a lot of junked cars, trailers with sheets for doors in areas, and trailers combined with school busses and shite for housing.

I make fun of them a lot, but there were some good old timers down that way and I learned a great deal from some of those folks.
A Saturday morning trip to the Bayou Bait Shop was a good day back in those simple times.

It's still home. Katrina did a number on us worse than anywhere else that felt her. The lower end was basically obliterated. It's slowly starting to come back after more than a decade later, but now Chevron is selling of it's shelf operations and focusing on deep water operations out of Fourchon so that's a big loss.

You know what's amazing? The people down there are so strong and down to earth people. Katrina hit there with her strongest winds to touch land and a 20+ feet storm surge and maybe a half a dozen people died with almost total destruction. I know population density is nowhere near the same as in Orleans, but I know a bunch of people who stayed down there and survived holding on to power lines or anything else they could grab. If that same thing happened in the city, there would have been 10k minimum dead.
