Do not use heat
Use ice only. You also need to strengthen your core there are lots of videos out there for core work. Stretch ice and core

I have herniated disk in my L4, L5, and S1. Also was diagnosed with Degenerative Disk Disease at 18.

shite sucks.

Stretch your hamstrings every morning.

Also lie on your back and cross your right leg over your left knee, then starting pulling your left knee towards you. Stretch for a couple of seconds, then switch (putting your left leg over your right knee).

Usually that helps.

I am about to start Lyrica, which in testing dosages from my doctor has worked well with my sciatica.

This all day.

Ice for lower back pain, heat only brings in more inflammation.

Exercises/stretching.

Yoga, yoga, yoga after you have the pain under control. I have two herniated discs in my lower back. Per my chiro I am "cured" and it is all due to the yoga I did. Chiro told me if everyone did yoga he would be out of a job. Just saying....

Good luck buddy!

Stretching, Pilates, yoga. They all do wonders for our backs. You don't need to go see a doctor.

If you're reasonably healthy and experiencing lower back pain, there's probably no better cure or relief than stretching your hamstrings. Like do 4 or 5 sets of 30 second toe touches. Do a few standing and a few while sitting on the ground.

Obviously there could be a million different reasons as to what is causing your pain, but trying this and seeing that it doesn't work will let you know its prob a way more serious issue. I spend 10-12 hours a day on my feet and I don't even want to speculate how many miles I'm walking during that time. When I get home, my lower back feels like it's a rotten piece of plywood. But after those stretches and a few Alieve, I'm good as new and have no pain as I'm trying to fall asleep.

Numerous stretches and I find ice then heat in short intervals work better for me. If it's muscle tightness it can be managed if disks longer road to hoe. If muscles Chiro adjustment and Acupuncture will help significantly . I was a long time back pain sufferer till I started weight training mixed with yoga, now it's routine and no issues. Must build your core to support back. Good luck
