Some yes. I have a friend whose dog needs Xanax everytime it storms. She goes to Walgreens or wherever. I had a cat that needed meds but the vet had them in his office.

Given your situation, probably legally supervising, playing insurance bitch, or doing something else that comes along with taking care of a pharmacy. Probably aren't compounding what you need, or anything if you didn't know it ahead of time.

Well for a RX to get filled it first has to be typed into the system. This doesn't take long unless the patient isn't already in the system. If they aren't it takes 3 times as long bc they have to put in their info plus the insurance info. After that the drug is "filled". A label is printed that goes on the bottle or package the amount of the drug must be counted before placed into the bottle. Some drugs require double and triple counting. After that the the pharmacist and only the pharmacist "checks" the script. A pic of the original RX shows up on the computer screen and pharmacist must make sure the RX has been filled to the exact instructions of the MD. The pharmacist must also make sure there aren't any interactions with the patients other meds and also check for drug allergies. And this is if there aren't any hiccups such as insurance rejections or MDs directions not being clear enough. All that must be done while answering the phone and dealing with walk up questions.

Yeah, it's crazy what get handed to me when I get my prescriptions filled.
Haven't been in months because I'm trying to get away from a lot of those. But by the time I left the doctors office and went to the pharmacy, Everything was already ready.

A lot of this is done on the front end with CPOE and E-scribing.

I live in a town with probably 40+ pharmacies and they're all always filling prescriptions.
I get a few prescriptions every month so they'll usually fill mine pretty quickly when I go in but they're slammed every day.

Not all. Some MUST be turned in on paper, including the OT favorites.
ETA - Didn't know about the adderall, but every mailed pharmacy we've used requires paper for anything.
I hope LSU Lyle responds to this thread. He works for a chain store in a town that's gone from 0% subsidized housing to probably 40% in the last 25 years. I am legitimately curious to know if the income and education level of the clientele affects/changes your interaction with them.
