I think the best food I've fed my dog was EVO, but he never stopped shitting like a yogurt machine so I stopped and went to CORE. EVO was 46% protein. My Vizsla was a badass on it, got jacked, but damn watching him crap was bad. He couldn't tell when he was done or something, just stay all tensed up until I distracted him.

So you've compared the high dollar stuff to Ole Roy then?
Yep. My wife bought that "Blue" stuff a few years ago when the pug was starting to get up in years (she's really old for a pug). First, the dog didn't like it. And second, she actually talked to our vet and he informed her that Ole Roy was just as good for the dog as any other high dollar brand.

Great. My dog is a working breed and runs a LOT. Dude would be worthless if he was eating walmart garbage food.

I am just saying do whats best for you dog. My dog likes his better food more and he's been noticeably better off while on this diet.
Like I said, we combine two different brands of dog food with totally different spectrums of ingredients because our vet told us its most important to not have any deficiencies. Some food is too specific, even the super nice stuff.
We'll stick with what works for us. I am not here to say what works best for other dogs.

$10-15 more a bag of food is well fricking worth my dog having better energy, better coat, and better shits.
Our vet told us to switch up his food when we were worried about his energy level and it was night and day.
Grain based food also has a higher incidence of allergy reactions compared to grain-free.
I had to switch to grain-free after my puppy weimeraner was having alot of ear problems. The food resolved it, but it was the way my very geriatric dachshund responded that sold me. He was more active than he had been in 3-4 years, and soft like a damn rabbit after 2 weeks.
The difference was unbelievable! He had science diet for 12 years, and orijgin/taste of the wild for the past 8 months. His appetite is ravenous again to.

Gorgeous dogs.
The one at our dog park is a lightning bolt and his coat is so shiny I swear you can see your reflection. Hot chick owner too so she gets tons of questions "about her dog"

Don't listen to all the hype about the high dollar stuff. They're dogs. They literally will eat other animal's turds if you let them. This will do just fine....
Not just feces , but their own vomit, dead animals,( wild game if they catch it),etc.... People humanize Dogs too much.
It's a big scam to part concerned dog lovers from their money.
Cheap raw meats ( butcher cuts) / scraps will do a dog fine as another poster stated.
The reason table scraps have been villainized is many people eat horribly( processed foods/ carbs, greasy / salty meats, fat & sugars ,etc..) & is just as unhealthy for dogs as humans.

Good for you. My daughter's dog has the energy of a tweeker on day one of a three day binge.
BTW, why do you feel the need to defend your dog food choice to the point of trying to insult my dogs and their food? Is this some sort of compitition to you or something to prove you're better?

This is what we use too. Ours had some sort of respiratory allergies and Natural Balance totally nipped it in the bud. Before that, we were feeding him Fromms, which is also great food. But expensive.

FYI, you're basically agreeing with us pet food "snobs". Grain based food are shite that were created to save money based on available materials at the time. A meat based diet, what a dogs digestive system has evolved to digest, is more desirable. Albeit meat scraps, or grain free food.

Yep, but thats actually more expensive in the long run if you pay at all and much more work to go get all the time. I order a bunch of bags of grain-free food on amazon on my phone and they come to my door.

That's meat.
Everything you said backs up the grain-free argument.
ETA:
I'd feed my dog raw meat from the butcher mixed with sweet potatoes and carrots if I had the time, energy, or money.
But I don't.

Darth will be here shortly to tell you that some hoot from Cornell says all dog food is the same. Might as well throw that shite away.

Their coats are very finicky. 1/2 a bag of Pedigree and mine will lose a ton of hair on his back. He's not growing anymore so I stay away from super high protein food, but damn that grain free hi-pro stuff had him looking like a champ. I probably didn't get stopped as much as my wife, but people just couldn't see him without commenting. He's 8 now and has a greyed in the face, but he's so damn powerful. Super deep chest is Greyhound like but he's way more massive.
