The only questionable ones I'm aware of are the Japanese who call their commercial whaling research. NOBODY believes what they're doing is research.

RESEARCH. I wish it was this easy to fool the IRS. Go Sea Shepherd.

had never actually watched this show before. I've just been watching some clips on youtube to see how absurd it actually is. I just have one question. Where do these people get their money from? It has to cost a small fortune to buy and maintain these ships.

Donations....a couple of the ships are called the Bob Barker and the Bridgette Bardot....because Barker and Bardot gave them the money to buy the ships.

I know a guy who came into quite a bit of money...very significant money and donates to them on a regular basis.

I'm waiting for one of the whaling vessels to use the harpoon as a weapon. If you are trying to foul a prop, depending on sea conditions, and fouling the prop left the vessel to drift, does that not put the crew in a life or death situation?

So is there a scenario where the whalers are justified in firing more than just water cannons at them? The waters they are in are sometimes days from rescue, right?

Like I said earlier, I can't believe the Japanese navy hasn't issued a very stern warning about that shite.

Fouling a prop is an attack. Plenty of the shite they do is an attack. If I'm boss of Japan and some jackass pirates are out Fouling props on Japaneese flagged commercial fishing vessels, I'm running a naval escourt and probably throwing a shot across the bow of the bob barker first time they tried anything.

I really can't believe it hasn't happened yet. Give that stupid arse captain what he wants. They're not US citizens and as far as I know those are not US flagged vessels. Send them a warning, and send them to the bottom after their next act of aggression. As far as I'm concerned fouling wheels is the same as shooting at the boat. It is a very serious deal far beyond throwing stink bombs

This boat "was" pretty cool, until they announced it was made of plywood and resin...

Reminded me of this:

Hmmm... so I guess when Interpol and the United Nations get together on it, people can start harassing the hell out of alligator hunters, crawdad killers, and all those bastards who kill all those beautiful, peace loving ducks every year, right?

Sea Shepherd cooperates fully with all international law enforcement agencies and its enforcement activities complying with standard practices of law and policing enforcement.

That's a total crock. These guys actively disable ships in the middle of the ocean. They throw ropes and chains into the propellers of other ships. They board other vessals with the direct intent to sabotage them. They ram other vessals with the intention of damaging other ships. They even throw acid onto the decks of other ships to disable their crew.

If this was 100 years ago they would have been shot and or hung without trial as was the standard for pirates of the day. Bring back the old ways.

That would be the logic. We could only be so lucky as to the Japanese defending themselves. I think rubber bullets and tear gas would be a great addition to the Japanese arsenal.

I personally think they should be sunk. The battle against whaling would be far better fought in courtrooms rather than at sea.

If I'm working on a whaling vessel and some jackasses in an ancient run down 350' hunk of shite flying a pirate flag try to foul my wheels, I'm calling for the navy to sink them. frick that shite. That's playing serious games with people's lives to save an animal.

I don't understand how so many can be opposed to their work.

for me it is the fact they try to stop ships by fowling their props in one of the most dangerous oceans in the world. I get that they want to save whales but they are too aggressive about it. Destroying property is illegal right? Not sure how they are even able to carry on with their antics.

Would those opposed to them prefer to let illegal fishing vessels operate freely?

they aren't illegal
