Probably the most proud I’ve been of fixing shite at my house was when I unclogged my main sewer line. Had sewage backing up into the house and went to Lowe’s and bought a few things to figure it out and one of them worked. I come from a family that paid to have problems taken care of. After saving myself $200-300, you couldn’t wipe the grin off of my cheap arse face.

There is a shortage of people going into trades and most of the ones that are have no work ethic. My son started as a plumbers helper right out of high school. Showed his boss early on he knew how to show up to work on time, pay attention and get shite done. Boss man is now paying for his apprenticeship and in a year when he gets his journeyman will bump his pay to $25/hr and buy him his own new truck and hire him a helper. He will be just shy of 22 with no college debt.

That's more often than not these days. It would take something like major concrete or roofing work before I call somebody else.
This work was done by "professionals" that I get to redo for a friend.
Ignore the badly kinked feed line to the insta-hot and the double p-trap drain for the disposal for the moment and trace the white poly lines to the water filter...

I don't envy a plumbers job. If you do then go ahead and do it yourself.

This here. Just changing out the wax ring can turn into a real PITA. If all goes well it can be done in an hour...but my last one didn't go so well. I go to the store, get the ring and kit to replace gaskets on tank (easier to remove the tank when replacing the ring). Of course first problem is one of the bolts to the floor is free spinning. That takes an hour to take care of. After that, the bolt is ruined so it's back to the store for new bolts. Then the water line attachment to the tank leaks a bit so its a couple of hours adjusting and rechecking every 5 to 10 mins. Can't just endlessly tighten down on the plastic fittings either.
