Lighten up and have some fun, damn. Ive been to lower class and upper class weddings in LA and it's happened at all of them. The reception is about having fun and celebrating
Some wet blanket high horse motherfrickers in here. Free food free beer and women with the fever and wanting to dance?
I'll be trashy. Take my money and I'll boogie down with the bridesmaid.

It's regional. Pinning money on a dress is trashy though. The wife had a silk money bag.

Males dance with bride, females with groom. You Pin money on them after a quick dance. Depending on how much you tip, you can grab the boob and pin the money there...

We did it. I don't consider myself trashy, but it was a little awkward for sure. It was done at most weddings I've been to, so it wasnt really thought of or talked about. It just happened.
I've been to some nice weddings where it's been done. I think it's more of a regional thing / family tradition.

After? Screw that, you're paying me first so I know how long I have to act like I give a shite about the advice you're about to give me.

My wife got ~$900...that covered our bar tab for the first 6 days on our honeymoon. Good stuff. The night of we asked where our tab was it was literally within $10 of what she got for those songs.
ETA: Amazing how fast those fresh island drinks with umbrellas add up.

I've been to weddings where the best man took off his shoe and walked around with it to collect money for the newlyweds honeymoon. That's trashier than a money dance.

You ever seen the 'mop dance'? Had a friend from Bunkie marry a girl from Basile...yea.

We don't do that trashy shite in North La.

Love the money dance. Beats going to a store and having to track down a gift on a registry

That's one fat groom to have a boob big enough to pin money on.

OT labels them as trashy
Therefore I have been to nothing but trashy weddings because I've seen them at every wedding I've been to

I just rather give cash in general. Every wedding I've been to in the last few years the couple already had a furnished house.

Only have seen it in Louisiana. Didn't care for the idea, but sure as shite happy we did it at my wedding.

The money dance, dollar dance, or apron dance is an event at some wedding receptions in various cultures. During a money dance, male guests pay to dance briefly with the bride, and sometimes female guests pay to dance with the groom.

I have never been to a wedding with a money dance.

I find it incredibly hard to believe so many people on this board have never heard of a money dance or been to a wedding where it occurred. I'm highly skeptical because I think many people say it to boost their "e-class" - just like the people who often say they're not on Facebook or other social media during those threads.
If you've been to 10 or more weddings and have the slightest bit of diversity in your family/friends, I'm sure a money dance has occurred.
ETA: I'm not calling you out specifically, but you're one of many in this thread who have said the same, and I think it's bullshite for the most part.
