Going to Waveland this weekend heard some rumblings about bacteria in beach water.

Got little ones that I'm more concerned about. Thanks in advance.

You call that "going"?

Leaving Waveland is better than going to Waveland.

They have ubiquitous bacteria in their beach water.

They need to experience bacteria to build up their natural antibodies

Go to the wave pool if you worried about the beach water. It's a Buccaneer State Park, they have a nice little water park.

I live there, BSL, what kind of swimming are you planning on doing? The water is REALLY shallow. Kids can play in it, but you'd have to walk out 100 yds to get waste deep. Literally 80 feet off of the beach will be calf deep. Great place to ride paddleboards if the wind is down, not likely, but swimming as an adult really isn't going to happen.

It's great spot to sit on the beach and drink beer and it's great for kids. Pick your spot well, drive to the end and back before you settle on one.

Let me know if you need other recommendations in town, drinks or eats...spots to bring the family or whatever.

I'll be in town tomorrow. Where can I get a gaudy watch plasti-dipped round there?

Unless you are really old, have an immune system problem, and have an open wound, don't worry about it.

You are far more likely to get hurt on the car ride to the beach or get food poisoning that you would getting some crazy bacteria infection.

It's perfectly fine.

Oh wait, you're not planning on having kids, are you?

The water is usually gross and disgusting.

Now, it's worse than ever.

Don't let your kids get in that water. Heed the warnings.

Most of the bacteria you need to worry is on the beach on the way in in that joint.

You're crazy. The water is fine. It's not 30A, but it won't kill you.

ETA: there're shrimp boats right off shore, what do you expect?

Have one of your family members update us on your experience so that we don't make the same mistake that you'll probably make.

Ok. Thank you. You're another person in my book, and I mean that.
