It used to drive me crazy to make people wait. I'd work only one chair, and allow myself a little longer than I expected to need for each patient. If someone showed up more than 15 minutes late, I'd reschedule them because it would throw the rest of my day off. But some days shite happens and you get backed up.
I'm at the neurologist now. Just sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes, and filled out a long medical history. Then they put me in a room, and a nurse comes in and asks me a crapload of medical history questions - 90% of which I just answered on the form.

Cousin was badly burned.
During one of his many visits, he knew who was important and who wasn't.
After answering 100 questions from the nurse, a student doctor came in asking the same questions:

student: do you have history of heart disease?
cousin: no
student: do you drink?
cousin: (getting frustrated) no
student: do you smoke?
cousin: (fed up) do YOU masturbate?

The student became flustered an left.
Later, when the surgeon came in she said,
" So according to your questionnaire, you smoke."

Yay! This thread again!

This happens about once a month. Usually some ignorant fricktard who doesn't know what the hell they're talking about and has never ever ever ever ever tried to work in a clinic before.

My son had a broken wrist last fall ... we were the doc's first apt at 7:30. Got there on time. Got taken back at 7:30 for xrays to check for any healing.

Brought to room ... Doc comes in furious that the xray viewing machine/equipment isn't working properly .. "give me a minute". He goes and comes back REALLY upset with the situation (but super polite to us) and commented to staff in front of us to get it fixed NOW as it was only 7:45 or so and he was already 15 minutes behind.

So I don't think they like being behind anymore than we like them being behind.

When a doctor never keeps his appointment, of course folks know what they're talking about.

I dont have a problem waiting and I realize no doctor wants to keep his patients waiting but over the years its seems to have gotten progressivly longer. No matter what doctor, dentist, orthodonist, I ve seen the wait times seem to be much longer with more paper work than in the past.

Or, keep on letting them take your money while providing sub-standard service.

This. There are plenty of good doctors who value their patients enough to run their business with good customer service.

I also get up and leave the exam room if it takes too long. I will just wander the halls - they love it when you do that.

Imma be honest. I have a few doctors that are 100% on time and always have a full office. Some doctors I have been to are late 100% of the time.

My dentist lady has 9 rooms. At least 6 of them are full every time I go there, but if my appointment is at 1pm, they bring me to the back at 1pm. Been that way for 10 years

I had a regular doctor that I used to go to that was at least 45 minutes behind every single time I went there. Left and now have a guy that is on time every appointment.

I used to go to an allergy doctor who would schedule appointments for 8am, but a nurse that I knew told me he didn't ever come in until 8:30 at the earliest.

Half of the doctors practicing today just DGAF and do stuff as they please

most doctors are paid very well. IF you don't like what you do change it. All I am sure of is that when a doctor/client of mine has a set appt with me I better be ready early or else. Strange that they have a double standard.

Seems like if you would schedule patients every 25-30 mins instead you wouldnt run into any of these problems.

Doctors are far more important than 'regular' people. That is why they charge so much and make us wait.

Wouldn't even be able to cover clinic overhead doing that.
