mmm kay

well you roll the dice your way and I'll roll the dice my way. There are plenty of places to go in NOLA where I know I won't get robbed.

Quite the overreaction

tell that to the family whose daughter was murdered on bourbon st. or the bartender murdered by 3 teens, or all of the people who've been shot, held up and/or beaten in the FQ

This is actually NOLA's biggest problem...it is always dismissed, overlooked, "shouldn't have", etc.

I've never seen such city wide denial. I was walking into st. Louis cathedral this weekend for a wedding. 5 ft from the door "hey ****, take off that bow tie and gets you some pussy" it's a shithole, has some very upscale places, but it's a shithole...the people who make it like that don't even live in the neighborhood. They walk all the way from the bywater, lower 9th and treme...they walk. just to hang around, do nothing, sell drugs, rob people.

How about all the people that's happened to not in the Quarter? Guess we should just vacate the whole city.

I'm not dismissing it. I'm just saying it's rather easy to avoid for the most part. There will always be outliers, like the guy that got mugged in broad daylight. But for the most part, it's not hard to keep yourself out of those situations.

This is not me blaming the victim or giving a pass to the tPOSs.

the worst part is, I saw it coming, but there was nowhere to go, no one really on bourbon...I am really lucky they didn't kill me, people in NOLA have been killed for less.

I'm sure that person is thinking with such sound logic while he is robbing people at 2am.

It was 10:30am or 4:30?

I think everyone is talking around each other here. I'm a bit confused either way.

Not every person in the military, who goes to Afghanistan, gets blown away by a roadside bomb, but I'm still not gonna enlist...

I've witnessed 3 muggings, 2 shootings, I've been held up...when it happens and you see it. If you're the victim or not, it happened...more than just the direct victims think it's dangerous...I'm not saying it's like hanging out in central city, but it's the biggest money maker NOLA has, the centerpiece of tourism...should be the rarest occurrence ever.

I've said my piece. don't live there anymore, not my problem

The reason New Orleans will never get better, is because of the attitude shown in this thread. "Just dont go there" "what was he expecting to happen" Now I am just as guilty as yall in doing this. But it just sucks we have to accept the fact that the city will always be a place where you cant walk street to street in peace.

Well to be fair and in his defense, you were wearing a bow tie.

For the amount of people that come in and out of the area, it may well be. Does anyone have any figures on the amount of crimes compared to the amount of people that go there?
